i think i already know how to remove the knob but can someone confirm i'm on the right road. there is a little slot underneth the knob that by using a screwdriver or something similar you can push a clip as you pull the knob to remove it then there is a little bulb that can be replaced. ive managed to replace the illumination bulbs for the left and right heater controls but the speed control along with the rear screen is still dark just wondered if the control is like the mk3 astra one and had a little bulb in it that i can replace to get the whole of the heater controls back to being illuminated

thamks in advance guys

to replace the bulb it is the same as the other two im asuming its a mk2 dash if so you take the dash above the controls off, you will be able to see the back of the diles and there will be 2 wires going to a plug like the other 2 just pull it out replace the bulb and re fit job done. i have just done all of mine it makes a massive difference.

sorry yeah it's a mk2 ive done the 2 bulbs in the back of the heater controls but does the centre control for the speed and the heated rear screen not light up? i know the mk3 astra one lights up the speed markings by a bulb in the middle of the knob that also lights up the heated screen symbol when you pull the switch to turn it on

Alot of times with the speed knob you can pull it and it will all come out then you can replace the bulb.

Pull the switch so that it is in the 'on' position, then look in the gap that has just appeared between the knob and the backing and you will see there are two plastic tabs, one either side, push these in gently with a small flatblade screwdriver, one side then the other, the knob/switch assembly will now slide out and the bulb/holder will be revealed :thumb:

Youre doing it wrong then, they always fall out in my experience, youve got to pull slightly on the switch as youre doing it otherwise the clips dont 'unclip' (i forgot to add that bit too) lol

nice one spudly i've had a look behind the switch and can't spot any bulb holder or space for it in the centre so i'll try removing the switch with those little tabs as i've already spotted them just haven't tried them. i'll report back when i've tried so everyone knows for certain as there seems to be alot of varing opinions.

I've been able to just pull it and the whole switch comes out. Worked on all the mk2s i've had/stripped.

Never found they move enough to see the tabs behind.

When you pull the switch out to turn the demister on, it moves forward about 2mm, this exposes the tabs behind so you can press them with a small screwdriver, theyre in the gap between the rotary switch and the main body of the switch!

You push them in from the side, towards the center of the rotary switch, they just move easily out of the way and the switch comes out in your hand!

Glad you got sorted Rage, ill go find your thread and approve it for you :thumb:

*edit*

No need to as it has already been done, spot on bud and glad you got it sorted, Benn, go and have a spy it will make it more clear :p
