Installed a mini boot build over the last few days. Re-wired my amps, subs etc and for afew days everything was going fine.

Now after my cars been running for about 10 minutes a fuse in the fuse box blows. It cuts the hazards, interior lights and clock. But my headunit, amps subs etc cut out also. Ive changed the fuse and the same thing happens about 10 minutes later again.

I have checked all the wiring on the ice and behind the headunit. Double checked all the earths and there fine and still cant find the problem.

I changed the fuse and did not turn the headunit on and the fuse went again so i dont think the problem is with the ice.

Anyone help?

cheers

is the fuse linked to the ice ???

Dont think so, ive not linked it to it but for some reason it still cuts it out.

What amp(the number on the fuse) is the fuse that is blowing?

Are you running the sound system for 10 mins before it blows or is it off?

It sounds like you are running your system through the live on the same circiut as the hazards etc. The saffest thing to do would be to run a + straight from the battery terminal to your amp but if this isn't easy you should look at how many fuses are on you amps and add up all the totals on them - e.g. If you've got two amps and and they're both running '30' fuses your system (if your using it's full potential) is drawing about 60 amps so you'll need to fit a larger fuse in your fuse box, about a '70' amp fuse - Like I said though, IT'S BETTER TO BE SAFE and change the wiring!

when i did my boot build and head unit i stupidly put the sidelight wire u know the 1 which dims the head unit when u put lights on down to earth so every time i put me side lights on i lost all me dash lights and so on cud it be that :?:

and yes i know i was a muppit doin it and it was an acciedent

I am running 2 amps which both have a positive feed from off the battery. The fuse that keeps going is 20amp.

I do not have to have the system on for the fuse to go. But if i do have the system on this also cuts out when the fuse goes including the headunit amps etc. I do not know how the headunit can be linked to the problem but some how it is as it turns off when this fuse blows.

the radio runs off that circuit normally

are u driving the amps with the power amp side of your head unit?

or are u driving anything at all from the power amp side (ie the head unit speaker outs)?

or is it all running on pre-outs?

if u have summat connected to power amp outs then the head unit is drawing enough current to hold the fuse just on its blow point - once its getting hot enough one bass hit is all it takes to make it pop

either shunt the head unit to the same heavy duty feed from yer battery as the amps or run another one

I think your head unit does use the same fuse as the hazards etc so when your fuse blows that explains why your head unit cuts out too -

Do u fit the head unit your self? It could be a posotive shorting out behind the headunit, and it might be rubbing as you drive from the vibrations, try taking out your head unit and checking all the wires are not exposed. If the perminant live touches the stereo frame it'll short and blow the fuse.

Another thing you could try is to change the fuse in the fuse box that keeps blowing for a bigger one - say a 30 amp fuse?

Another thing you could try is to change the fuse in the fuse box that keeps blowing for a bigger one - say a 30 amp fuse?

the only thing with doin that is
is the cable rated at 30amp i think it needs 2 fairly thick over 3 or 4mm
other wise the cable will melt\burn before the fuse blows
