Just wondering what people think of this.

I have just been quoted £1750 fully comp on my K reg XE nova.
I am 20 been driving 3 years and don't have any no claims.
This is with an excess of £200
What do people think?
Anyway of trying to bring it down that bit more?

I wouldn't pay that but I guess considering prices these days its not so bad if its your main car with average mileage - mind you, how come you have 0NCB but 3 years experience?

Have you tried the likes of Sky insurance and Graham Sykes?

Don't think sky would cover me cause I thought you had to be 21? I have never heard of the other one so will give them a go. And the reason is that my no claims are on another car

Who quoted that? Hic have always been spot on for me. I paid £1500 ish at 19 with points and 0 ncb. This was a few years ago but now I pay £600 on a LET with less points and more ncb

Adrian flux quoted me that I don't think that I am going to get it much cheaper but I will see what I can do

Think flux and hoc are now sister companies tbh. The price of insurance these days I think that's quite good.

Ye I can't see it coming down much. Thought about adding my dad or someone as a named driver do you think that may bring it down a bit?

Bearing in mind, that kissy Dave was silly and xe'd his nova before he got a quote, his last quote i heard at the age of 19 was over eight grand, id say youve got a bargain and you should start the policy asap, before they realise theyve quoted you too cheap lol

Jamie.bowen

Haha ye I told them to call me back tommorow to finalise it all to make sure it don't dissapear haha

Cant you use the no claims on this car and start from scratch on the other one as it could make a big difference being an xe

Graham Sykes were cheaper than Sky, so definitely worth a try

I tried graham skykes waiting on a call back tommorow of them. As for using my no claims on my XE it would probably work out dearer cause I have my mrs as a named driver on my other policy

Sounds reasonable for age and no claims. Do you have any previous experience with that type of car as it affects the premium

Jamie.bowen

Just said I had owned it 12 months which I have. If that's what you mean?

Considering mine with Adrian Flux is £1,650  on a 1.3 sr I'd say it was really good.

Ever type "stolen" into MLR search?

Evo's are 2nd most stolen car next to impreza's I believe, except impreza's are stolen by monkeys joyriding and Evo's are stolen by pro's in the middle of night, jacked on streets etc... some proper nasty stories on there, one where a guy lost all 3 of his cars, Evo had a top end alarm/tracker so they torched it, the fire caught onto his daily driver, which snapped the handbrake cable and that then rolled across the street into his project car which also set alight!!

Insurers nightmare I imagine.

edit: Also £250 for anything is really cheap, my mum has just paid nearly that at 50+ on a 1.3 Honda Jazz lol

Was a limited special evo VI iirc, was only six of them made/tuned/built by a top tuning place, they couldnt get it going 'apparently' so ti was fired, took out the 205 GTi track car next to it, and rolled across the road into his audi RS4 estate.....

Never seen a car roll once fired, as usually by the time brakes fail due to cable failure, the wheels/tyres are already gone, but hey-ho this isnt the place to argue that as it was years ago, but yes, evo's are highly stolen cars, a guy on here had his jacked and burnt out one night after work not too long ago aswell

Was thinking about switching the GT4 for an EvoVI. Put that idea in the bin then lol

Yeah it did seem a bit 'fishy' but, it's one of so many examples and they can't all be insurance scams! But yeah really highly stolen/abused/torched cars.

lol

i live in an NG postcode so i guess that wont help as nottingham is a bit rough in places but im actually in derbyshire, dare i say next to MANSFIELD, lol sorry NK93

evo been quite expensive was 600+ back in 2010

hope im not jinxing the evo, shes a beauty, i didnt think £500 was too bad but imo it should be 350 tops

having said that i left it at someones house once back in 2007 and they tried to break into the patio doors to get the keys

My quotes were in excess of £8000 when i first did it, but i wasnt too bothered about insuring it because it can sit in the garage for afew years, I jsut bought another nova to drive every day lol

My quotes now are around £2300 for the XE, my 1.2 Saloon is still £1250 but i live on the outskirts of Liverpool and have 3 points :p But that quote you have is very cheap considering your nage and no NCB
