I need to clean the jets in my twin 40s, whats the best solvent/cleaner to use, I've got solvent brake cleaner and petrol, are these sufficient or do I need a specialist product?

Do I just leave them to soak?

an ultrasonic cleaner and carb or brake cleaner. petrol causes the varnishes to build up so it wont release them. dont poke wire through them. blow clear with air.

IMO brake/carb cleaner does not tend to shift the varnishing, only petrol seems to shift it.

It is external but this shows what petrol cleans like...

why would there be varnish on the outside of your carb?

I did not say it was varnish, just showing the cleaning properties of petrol where carb cleaner does not have any effect.
The problem with carb cleaner is it only shifts loose dirt or easily disolvable dirt before it evaporates quite quickly.

i dont doubt that petrol can clean things. but so can vinegar.
