Doing the C16XE swap in my 5door nova.. Which started as a 1.2 carbed!, im stuck on how to fuel it? People say 3dr and 5dr tanks are different? What am i going to need? Tank? Pump? Lines?

All of the above really mate. Although im not sure if the tanks are different, i thought they were the same...

pretty sure the tanks are a different shape dan.

altho i havent heard anyone say 'why' the carb tank needs changing ?
i dont think they made any 5 door multi point injection models, you might need a single point injection tank from a 1.2i / 1.4i ?
youll need an external fuel pump to go with it (last time i looked they were kinda expensive new, you could probably source a cheap suitable one from a scrappy, make sure its not siezed or clapped out tho)

fuel lines, i think need changing for a certain diameter copper pipe to handle the higher pressures.

did it all with a friend of mine on an xe few years back, its all fairly straight forward, the tricky bit was wiring the pump to the ecu relay.

i dont know it all tho, wait for someone to say about the tank, as its not worth wasting time and money if you can use what youve got

Leave your tank on and put a pump inline, earth it and red/blue from c16xe loom is live, job done.

you can get away with the inline pump method, but keep your tank at 1/2 full or when you go round a rh corner fast, it will suck air in... cough splutter time.....

fitting an spi tank from a later equivalent model (3,4,5 door etc.....) with an mpi pump from a corsa b mpi with the inlet pipe shortened to suit is a tidier solution. the tank will be newer & have a swirl pot in it to combat the corner spluttering.

Yeah I also agree with mowgli.

Carb tank is fine with high pressure in line pump. I would personally go with a new item for piece of mind.

As for corner spluttering it rarely happens tbh. I run carb tank, in line pump and c16xe. Yes you hear the odd air suck but it's never led to stuttering, but this is just my experiences.

who can afford more then half a tank of fuel anyway, i was just going to run a inline pump with the carb tank on my xe dont see any real issue tbh

I've done it a few times, as long as you keep the fuel guage above red it's fine

ok, you lads obviously aren't cornering hard enough then.... i used to get it all the time on my old beige a reg hatch. so i found a proper gte tank before they got crazy money...

Also do i need to change the fuel lines?

Yes you will need 8mm fuel lines (copper or rubber) and a fuel filter too

Ill order that pump and some fuel line then.. Should do the job!
