I have hired a brand new renault clio 1.2 16v and its the worst car ive eva driven it slides all over place round corners and i had to do an emergency stop today and i skidded!!!!! :(

Hopefully should pick up a new gear box for my Gsi by the weekend and no more crappy french car that i swear is trying to kill me!!!! :cry:

Last week in the heatwave, it was 42 degrees C in france and the country was on their national shutdown week so hospital's had one fifth normal staff levels, 3000 frenchies died from heatstroke before france declared a state of emergency!!

My Girlfriend has a brand new Renault Clio 1.2 16v Sport and it's a fantastic little car. It's surprisingly nippy for a 1.2, the brakes are amazing (ABS :D) It handles really well for a standard set up.

I'm guessing the hire car you have is knackered or it's a very basic model thats been thrashed during it's short life.

I can't complain about the car my g/f has, it's ace!

Just a basic model Jim :( it does have ABS and power steering even air con (which is the only good thing about it). A friend of mine has the sport version and he says exactly the same completely different set up!!

Its only as hire car and a standard model i should b greatful either that or the train.....I DONT THINK SO!!!! :lol:

as for the clio, never driven one but my nova understeers round roundabouts and skids when i slam on. that maybe just that the trackings well out though :?:
