My car as just failed its MOT due to my size of my rear tyres, as apparentely they are just slightly rubbing :x Anyways I had two choices either widen my arches or change my tyres. At the minute my tyre size are 195/50 r15 with 15" alloys, I was wondering if I could just change my rear tyre sizes a bit lower with my alloys back on, which means my front tyres will be slightly bigger than my rears - will this pass my MOT?

Yes, tyres match per axle, so backs must be same but can be different from fronts aslong as fronts match each other.

So long as the left and right match, doesnt matter about the front and rear.

Borrow some steelies for the MOT!

Thanks CorsaNova.

Do you know what the next size down is? Will it be 185?

I run 185/60-14 so not one hundred percent on the next step for 15's
Got a mate with a nova that you could borrow his wheels for the MOT?

Get a set of 195/45/15 tyres. This should stop the scrubbing and will also improve the handling a little.
