do you have the short engine sat in your workshop at the moment??

get some plasticene, or similar (like blu-tac, pastry etc) & having oiled the piston top (at tdc) shove a load of the plasticene into the dish, then knife it off flat to the top of the block. then remove the plasticene. this is the exact volume of your dish. you can then quidge it into a cube & measure it.

i know it sounds a bit redneck, but its a damned quick way to get it measured without playing with perspex sheets & syringes.
