hi all im thinking about doing this conversion as my current 1.2 carbd engine is rubbish and running badly edzactly what will i need to change and how hard will it be to wire in??

will i need to change the fuel tank or pump or lines

will i be able to run the carb setup off my 1.2??

will i be able to run a 1.2 8v clutch and flywheel and f10 4 speed box on a 1.6 8v??

thanks in advance

You could use the 1.2 carb and manifold with a bit of head work, then gear should fit with all the other bits but you may have a problem with the dizzy fitting... may need to use the 1.2 cam box and cam for the dizzy drive and fuel pump.. iirc that may give the engine a bit more power any way!

the flywheel clutch & gearbox off the 1.2 will not fit, you need the setup with a later f13 gearbox

the 1.2 carb might be pushing it a touch with the 1.6. i had one on a 1.4 & it went well though.

i'd say look for a carb that will fit the 1.6 manifold, a bit of ally plate drilled right will make a good adaptor, you could use the 1.2 cam carrier & fuel pump, but a 1.3 cam would be better.

the 1.2 exhaust manifold & system is crap, and a 4-2-1 off a 1300 or bigger would work better.

i will repeat what i have already put on here many times.

you can't use the 1.2 gearbox, clutch or flywheel on the 1.6

anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is a fool.

the 1.6 uses a larger flywheel. the starter mount hole is further out from the centre of the crank to accomodate this, and the f10 gearbox housing is too small to fit round it.

if you fit a 1.6, you need the 1.6 gearbox(f13), clutch & flywheel too

Basically take the engine and box from the astra and put it in the nova... (unless the astra has some oddball gearbox on it)
