what does goosed mean

If its isnt your daily i would remove all the carpets and get any wet ones up against a radiator (bunji cords stop them falling) get a torch on the wet areas and get somone to put a hose on your car while you wait for water to start running into the cab

Means there's a hole in it, and you aint gonna plug it with stuffing, my brother.

Either a hole in the battery tray or leaking windscreen rubber I would say

Whatever it is get it sorted ASAP or it will only get worse

If you do decide to ignore be prepared for your car to stink

Screen seal then? Don't discount the tray yet though.
Have someone turn a hose on it whilst you are inside.

Do you have the tilt slide sunroof? As they have drain pipes that run down the A pillar
Could be that

check around where the throttle cable enters the cabin (under the battery tray)

also remove kick panel and pull back underlay/carpet and check inner arch where it meets bodyshell/A pillar area

Heater matrix ? (cant really see underlay too well)

If it is the windscreen seal you will likely find it if you pop out the speedo/clocks and look for the water marks - worse case you may find rot as I once did!

The one thing nobody has mentioned is the door. One of the most common leaks is from the door if the membrane is not sealed correctly. I would recommend checking this as you have just had some bodywork done havent you? The doors will naturally fill up with water but if the drain holes are blocked up with crap or waxoyl they will hold water. If the membrane is not sealed the water will overflow into the footwell from behind the door panel.

i cheacked everything today and nothing apart from there being holes in the door membrane which ive got to change. whats the best thing.
The water in it was stagnat and looked like it had been there for a while. so ive dryed the car out and left carpet out for a couple of days to see if any returns
i think when its warmer(less likly to crack) ill get the windscreen resealed for good measure.

its differnatly not coolant, and the big dark patch on the underlay is the damp part

coolant is easy to find. Dip your finger in it and if it tastes sweet, its coolant.

Novasport

Not sure, maybe try some building plastic. Did you check the drain holes were clear in the door?

thank you what would be better foam or plastic

Novasport
03-01-13, 09:50 PM
Original is plastic so should be fine. Foam is used on more modern cars and offers a degree of insulation but it tears easily and may cause problems with fitment of the door card.
Stick to plastic.

There is a black sealant strip you can get on a roll which is ideal for fitting it if the membrane is not adhesive but for the life of me I cannot think what it is called

Edd

lol does the job

Won't need to peel it off, if you need to get in, (which I doubt I will) just slit a hole then seal it up

conza123
03-01-13, 10:54 PM

Gaffs tape lol I wouldn't even use that on my van. Clear rubble bag FTW stuck on with spray on glue

Edd
03-01-13, 11:46 PM
I rather spend £3 on a roll of tape than £20 on a bin liner lol

Does the job and you don't see it anyway lol
