?3 super chips!

This might sound silly but a mate who has a Corsa SRI 1.4 16v knows someone who said he can get some kind of chip type thing from E-bay which plugs onto the air-flow meter and increases performance.
The brother of the lad who can get one has a Corsa 1.4 16v sport and they tried one on his car, and apparently the difference was well noticeable.
Now to me this was a bit strange, but if there was such a thing, and it did actually work, how? The only thing that it could do was to fool the ECU into thinking there was a bigger/or smaller airflow so it would change the amount of fuel that was put in, except this would make the ratio wrong.

Anyone got any ideas or has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

alls it is is a little resistor which fits in2 a plug from ur inlet manifold and u tape it up so water or other shite cant get in it

Had a couple of mates buy this off Ebay, fitted to different cars and both have developed engine faults within 3000 miles each.
