View Full Version : Vented Bonnets?
I've thought for ages about getting a vented bonnet, but i want the smooth look.. So thought of pressed in louvres. Now most you see are done so they stick out of the bonnet, but i want them pressed down so they'll be smooth and so they'll match the ones in my wings.. But will let air in to help with heat. But can't make my mind up.. So Help.
A Southie photoshop.. (would only be a line each side)

Bloody hell those photoshops look old now lol
Do me new ones...
And the vents will be looks based over working... As i know them being pressed from the underside is better for letting air out..

Im making a track bonnet with vents that go downwards, mine are hand cut and not pressed. I went for looks over function too.
Best pic I got on my phone.

How about if the vents were towards the back & centre of the bonnet? I think that would balance out the overall look better due to the vents at the front of your wing.
Plus, IMO, it'd aid much more in cooling since it'd let the air escape from the rear of the engine bay where the air pressure would be greater. The escaping air would take some heat with it and may (slightly) relieve the air pressure under your car also for extra ground effect. Think similar to how modern fast cars have vents at the back of the front wing to relieve the pressure build up in the front arches.
Looks & function = WIN

They did look nice, but for me they'd need the match my wing ones.

Good thinking.. But think i've just worked out, that adding more vents would just be to "fussey" as my mate said. So i think i'll give them a miss.
