Remarkable to believe seen as how i'm blasted now (and a not so recovering alcoholic (lol) ) but i will be trying to be doing a month off alcohol, anyone else taking part?
I will do it,:)
FCUK THAT!
I'm struggling to do this week as I'm oncall, Monday morning at 8am ill be tucking into my breakfast of coors :)
Good luck tho mate and godspeed lol
What's the point in doing a month? lol I wouldn't worry about it, just get blasted for the whole month and forget about it
I'm trying to give up smoking again, which means I will have to give up drinking as I can't get wasted without tobacco lol
No, because its a month where traditionally most people stop drinking anyway so scamster research have just tagged onto that, and also I would sooner give money to the Taliban than to scamster research.
If it were for Macmillan or similar then yeah I'd be supportive lol
a sponsored sober eh stu?
what a strange idea...it might just work.
jan is the month of fat buster clubs, gym membership, giving up everything known to make mankind happy etc.....
Andy, try February first, as its shorter, then if you do ok, build up to a longer month.. lol

PNG is the worst place to visit if your wanting to stay sober lol
to be honest, dave, being in your company is pretty risky too!!!!! lol

I was sober that day lol
I've not had a beer for 3 days with having a bout of the man flu, or is it that I'm detoxing lol
I've not had any booze since last Friday :( had some sort of cold/flu all week and barely wanted to eat let alone get hammered. Oh well, atleast I now have a huge stash of booze to hit in the new year when everyone else quits lol
i drink very little alcohol when i'm driving wagons, so xmas & annual hols are the only times i can get proper tiddled

I'm cutting down next year, I've not had a full week off beer in about 10 years
I did February in 2011 (as its the shortest month lol), Hayley did January i think.
This year we did February and most of March, we had a holiday at the end of March so used that as the 'milestone'.
Its surprisingly easy actually
I was drunk(ish) last night and have been the last three days, finished my one day of work early today and just cracked my first, week off to get really wasted then im cutting right down/out completely and saving up for a road bike next year/more old skool mtbs, and giving serious thought to selling one of my cars too!

I cant not, in my eyes it will always be 'his' old car, plus i'd hate to sell it on and have Andy say that he wouldve taken it back if he'd known!

i would be up for this, i still blame my weight on booze, so a month off would be good and very challanging for me tbh lol
It would be good, just not to raise cash for those people.
Why not stuart? what have they done/doing

the other reason i want to do it is so i can donate blood, I'm pretty sure you can when you have a skin full of booze and with my recent massive injury list, I'm bound to need it one day so why not give a little now lol

As ever with big 'charities' they have silly pay for e guys running it. Chuck some at the hospitals doing the graft anyway and then beg poverty to you on tv....

Bolllocks, it won't happen... you'll get to the 26th I reckon lol

there are some very good charities, but the mega charities, that actually get massive sums of money from people's wills, are simply businesses that don't have to pay tax.
a few years ago i heard that the rspca made a surplus of £8m in a year... in normal terms, that is a profit.
i won't give to any charity that sends the money abroad.
i especially won't if it mentions children or water. why should we pay for people in far off lands to breed as & when they want?
i also saw an ad recently where they were providing wells in zimbabwe !!!!! which, 30 years ago was the greenest, most fertile, most productive, most advanced country in africa, and every single problem in the whole place is down to one man.

Im with you on that Mowgli, 'Umbongo here has 11 starving children...for £30 a month...'
Go get ****ed lol stop having them if you can't afford to feed them. Africas biggest problem is they are all bone idle...which is also apparent in the Africans who live here now. The only people who have achieved anything in Africa in modern history are European settlers...the natives wanted it all back then everything went down the ****ter
Back on topic...I've not had a drink since July so I'm sure I can manage it lol
I must admit i do think the same when i see those three hour feckin long adverts, i think..
'how much did it cost you to fly out there and film all these people'
'how much did it cost you to send mrs so-and-so out there to see where her monies were going in your latest three hour advert'
And above all else, if these people know theyre in actual poverty, and that their children stand bugger all chance of surviving as there simply isnt enough money or food or water to sustain them, why do they keep having fcuking sex all the time and making more babies?
i disagree with you quite a bit mk1nova rich..
1.most drought problems are caused by religion. more specifically the africans having christian religion forced upon them by missionaries. these prats turned up & built permanent churches & convinced the locals that god would provide, so they stayed put. before, the people of africa were tribal & nomadic, so if there was a drought, they would move to a wetter area... now, they ask for christian aid to pay them to dig a well. if i was thirsty, i'd dig the sodding well myself.
2.the european settlers did what they always do, drew lines on a map & carved up old nomadic tribal lands to make countries. when the africans finally got their old lands back, they have been fighting to get their tribal lands reinstated...
3.international govt. aid, and the greed of large businesses has then funded tin pot dictatorships. these dictatorships then buy weapons off the countries that sent aid in the first place to suppress the tribal africans. and then get more desperate and resort to cutting off agriculture, health care etc. to simply starve & kill off their opposition.
4. as for a few african benefit scroungers in leeds, blame the last labour govt. for their open door policies on immigration, followed by a benefits system that is aimed at keeping people from finding work.(watch this space, the coallition is out for scalps next year)

spud, the same reason that victorian brits all had 10 kids, so some of them made it to adulthood. we are only about 5 generations ahead of them in terms of civilisation (to european ideals)
Also 'god sez its bad to wear a condom'........ Plus they haven't ecaxtly got great tv out there to keep themselves entertained either.
The cure to over crowding and starvation in Africa...? Ahhhh yes, sky tv.
they already have feeds for premiership footie!!!!
i read an article where JAY-ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and his mrs, the singer, (i know who she is, i was being ironic) went out to africa for unicef(or similar) to help with drought aid, and wherever they went, everyone had smartphones & were taking pics... mr ZEEEEEEEE was a little upset that they couldn't afford food or clean water, yet all had phones
Allegedly alot of aid to other countries is just politically correct bribes
like when the yanks mistook slovakia & slovenia when they were trying to get allies for the iraq invasion & sent $100m to the wrong country... allegedly...
and who is the largest aid giver to the gaza strip?? the yanks....
but most of the dodgy stuff in africa is being done by the chinese to get at the mineral rights
