Opel Corsa A GSI

Well folks my name is Nathan,new to the site. Just bought a nova a few weeks ago of my cousin

So my cousin picked this up from London a couple of years ago and since he owned it he carried out a full respray, speedlines and a upgraded suspension..

After i got her i moved her out to a mates mushroom shed for the winter and give her a wash and a good polish

speedlines are the only wheel for them imo..have a set of gaz coilovers to go in soon enough after i get the corsa through mot

after that then the work begins on the nova/corsa :)

had a look through your thread and at first i thought why would he bother doing this to a car with all that rust then seeing the finished item is just amazing

if im mistaking i think they have only done 3,000 miles :)

Thanks mate,its always worth saving a gte i reckon & should keep the rust away for a few years getting it done right instead of patching,not cheap though.

dont get me wrong theres afew touch up id like to get done. Theres a small bit of bubbling starting on the drivers door which kinda annoyed me so that shall be sorted and there's a small bit of welding needs done near where the battery sits, roughly the size of a 50p

Cavalier Slabs
Before i owned this nova i had a black corsa and i bought a set of cavalier slabs. Got them refurbed and coated in some paint but never got around to putting them on the car..

Anways what would use think about these on the nova?

im extremely picky when it comes to cars lol. Had a 2000 sxi corsa and i think i spent over 2k just doing it up. Had a real good thread on that on corsasport and jon44w. Alot of lads like her :)

think ill use the slabs for a winter wheel :). Portrush cruise yep im defiantly goin. Ive never been to this cruise before so ill be really nervous arriving in the Nova

I really like how it still has the orange indicators and O.e interior, although it needs the grill badge putting back on

Hi Ian, thanks for the comment. No i dont have any pics from the engine bay yet but thats next on the list to put some pics up :)

i did have a front grill badge but didnt belong to me. It was my cousins mates so i had to give it back but i got one order there from a lad back home so im pretty chuffed :)

All the history/documents are still at my cousins so when i get my hands on the stuff ill be throwing afew pics of that up

I can see why the pic above is a gsi as it has a spanish plate and GSI stickers and LHD. that make sence. But why are some novas randomley opels/GSI

All i know she is an Opel Corsa A GSI and came out of Germany years and years ago. A man from london owned her for awhile then my cousin collected her and drove her home...

im on about the badges etc

when my cousin got her she had the Opel badges on but he put the Griffin Vauxhall badges on after the respray but he kept the Opel steering wheel which looks very neat

Was most probably registered to a member of the forces based in Germany and bought there . They were new opels from Germany but supplied rhd and tax free so they could be brought home to the uk .
not sure how the reg worked ,I know a long time ago they had there own number plate system for German based uk forces but this was changed after a bit of bother from the Irish

well folks.. haven't uploaded since February but from then a lot has changed on the Nova thankfully.. So far i got her through MOT :).. Needed a it of work such as the heater matrix replaced, battery box needed some welding, new handbrake cables, new brake shoes and whilst i was at it i put the coilovers in. Only have afew pictures nothing great just of her all shiny :)..

I know bud they look 'cool' with no centre caps lol. Ive a picture on my phone of slabs being fitted today. Got the refurbed and coated in a dark anthracite, in my words looks 'english oldschool' lol. Gona try and upload more pics tomorrow from my phone.... :)

thanks buddy. took them pics 2weeks ago, weather was great that day. pics where taking on my girlfriends farm. the trees do it for me coming up to her house there hanging from everywhere.. best pics ive taking yet. just need to get myself a decent camera to take proper pics rather that using my phone..

at the minute i haven't put the coilovers in the rear yet shes sitting on 60mm springs and shocks. need to change the tires for 195/40's cause she wouldn't fit with the 195/45's. im hoping that will sort the problem out. have coilovers in the front and shes sitting nice and low but the drivers wheel is catching the arch ever so slightly so either way i have to change the tires i think cause i dont want to raise the front up she sits really good :)

so the car was in the shed the past few days, sitting there so i decided to take each wheel of a detail them with meguiars hot rims

the front wheels where the worst, covered in muck, tar etc so i snap afew pics up of how they turned out, end result was amazing. chuffed with the turn out. detailed the rear wheels also but no need to take pics cause they weren't that bad

thanks dave :). still bits of tar in the inner bit but nothing to worry about. gona order some tar remover and do it all over again.

Was actually surprised how well they turned out. Couldn't fault this product, worth the purchase. One wheel did take ages to do but go there in the end with abit of elbow grease...

Next step is to do it again when i get the chance and use tar remover next time. Still the odd bit of grit here and there which need removed..

Couldn't fault the product at all so pleased with the turn out. Ask some lads on Corsasport and they said it can be be good and bad depending on the wheel but it never reacted on mine thankfully :)

so 2 weeks ago i got word from the lads from Nova Ni that they want me in the stand for Ballymena Carfest Norther Ireland, couldn't get over it was chuffed. Cut a long story short went then to get the engine steamed cleaned came back and the ejit had fried my fuel pump relay, two days before the show, bloody gutted.

if all goes well ill have a replacement with me in the morning then the car show is a go ahead

well my cousin carried out a respray when he got her but the due to having a child and buyin a house etc he never had the time for the car and she faded away sadly but once i got my hands on her just detailed it day in day out and the colour came back thankfully :)

Great to see a car going to a body shop and actually getting worked on with an end date in site! When do you plan on having it on the road? Doing the trip to Billing?

Im hoping to have all the work done sometime this week and get the inside built the following week. After that's all done I'm bringing straight to the mechanics and having her sorted for MOT. I'd really like to have her on the road by the end of May or start of June but all depends I suppose. I pray that she won't need much for MOT. For the likes of Billing I'd like to get over in the near future but it's a long Journey from we're I am which is a downfall and It's had to get lads gathered up round here who have Novas and would be up for the journey

Update on the car today. Called out to see the car and find myself all amazed at how the respray turned out but mind you there still another 2 weeks work left to do. Whilst i was here they had finished putting my suspension in and was really pleased at how well it turned out. Anyways enough of the hashing on here somes pictures i snapped up earlier. Didn't think there any reason to Benn seeing as it was in reasonable condition and besides its not going to be on show only if i get a flat Tyre and take out the jack and spare wheel..

Went out today to see the progress on the Nova. So far got the front and rear bumpers on, front windscreen in, B pillar vinyl on along with the wheels. At the minute its all go to get the Nova out by next week so im hoping to have it up at the mechanics by then :)

Yeah she was fine just needs a good service etc and sorted for MOT :)

Called round to the mechanics today to see how the car was getting on.. Alls good up and running and set for MOT.. Fingers crossed I'll have it home tomorrow

Well guys.. Put the Nova in for its MOT on Wednesday but unfortunately it failed on having no seat belt stacks in the rear, ball bag here forgot to put them back in lol.. Anyways have her booked back in for the re-test and back home waiting.. Whilst I sat at home board I sent it away to get lowered. Got it back yesterday and very pleased with the ride height and how well she handles but haven't got round to putting the speedlines back on due to being busy. Less of the hashing on here's some pics..

So with a few more tweeks with the suspension the Nova is complete, thank f***


As said on a previous post she failed the MOT on having no seat belt stacks in the rear seat so I managed to source a set at the weekend and fitted them earlier this evening..


Whilst I was at it I put the speedlines back on, slicked the tyres up and gave it a good polish and wax..

Found two small chips out of the paintwork on the rear bumper which has angered me a lot :mad: Cant really notice them only if you looking for them so gotta ring my body guy to sort this out at some point

Your GTE is absolutely gorgeous, I've had 4 Novas in total back in the day with 3 of them being Red Gtes, one had a 1.6i Turbo Conversion, hence username lol....
I kept all the original apart from lowering it, getting a Honda Jazz rear wiper blade and inserting rear head rests, the orange indicators and the rounds repeaters in the wings, I still had, I guess having the clears was in once upon a time and never got around to swapping them over which the new owner did.

As I was going through your thread, I noticed before you had it repainted, the car had Astra GTE decals on them (e in gte is curved) and glad they were replaced for the OEM spec.

All in all, really really nice car, they were rare when they first came out and now well.......

Two things id like to suggest if you wouldn't mind, I would try and source a replica oval GTE exhaust back box if you can't get an original (I had one from a company called Bossal) to go with the exhaust cut out in the diffuser and this one is ultra minor but go to Vauxhalls and get some original number plates made up with the GB (optional) and vauxhall dealer logo. E.g mine are from Now Vauxhall and the Blue in the GB take up the entire corners of the plate.

It's nice to came across a thread like yours knowing there's someone out there as anal if not more as you are lol.

Btw, speedos look at treat on a GTE, cav slabs come a close second. ;-)

Slight update.. After getting the car I've had a limited amount of time to clean it so I got a good friend of mine who has his own detailing company to do it for me. Had a major detailing session done on the car this eveing, extremely happy with the turn out :)

Anyways continuing on from an annoying distraction (no elbows pointing) the Nova past it's MOT this afternoon.. Thankfully the MOT guy had a glance through the window to see that all seatbelt stalks where in place ..


Nothing much happened afterwords but give it a wash as weather was pretty poor and put her back into hibernation awaiting for good weather (doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon)

It looks a lot lower in person than in pictures.. Defiantly want to drop it a small bit but nothing to OTT..
