Found a rocker cover for my spider

Trouble is its a 1600 GSi on Twin 40s

GSi rocker has a small breather outlet and the big breather from the cam box to the crank case

I don't want to cover my newly painted engine with oil, will using the irmscher cover cause me a problem? Bearing in mind I'm running carbs. Of it is a problem is there a solution to add an extra breather?

The cover will fit and be fine so long as you take care of the breathers, if not ill have the cover lol

Attached where though? I'm guessing ill need to add a new breather outlet with the flat rocker cover?

Can ou post a pic of the breather your on about? A sport has a flat cam cover and 40s and the breather isn't a problem?

Doesn't the 1.3 engine have a dual outlet crankcase breather at the back of the engine, whereas the 1.6 has a single outlet pipe there with the secondary breather pipe connecting to the rocker cover.

So can't you just use the single outlet pipe on the 1.6, connect that to a catch tank or whatever, and just not bother with a breather on the rocker cover? Perhaps I'm wrong but I would have thought the rocker cover outlet on the 1.6 is there because of design convenience for connecting to the air inlet rather than being a necessity of the 1.6 engine block being fundamentally different to the 1.2/1.3

On my 1.3 with twin 40's I have the smaller of the crankcase pipes blocked off, with just the larger one connected to a catch tank with a breather filter on it.

This is the back end of the engine

There's a rubber pipe from the cam box to the grey tube from the sump

the breather pipe that comes up from the block thru the manifold needs connecting to the top pipe that comes out of the back of the head with a tee piece to either the airbox(if it has one) or to a breather filter/catch tank. then the irmscher cam cover will be ok to fit.

It's on 40s. I could drill and tap a breather into the grey hard metal pipe from the crank case and run a pipe to the floor then?

as long as you tee into that pipe with a pipe of a similar size, the breathing will be ok.

the main thing is to have a catch tank/breather rigged up so that it will pass an mot. if you are planning to fit an irmscher cast airbox, then connecting it to the underside of that will be good. if you are fitting a large foam filter, then you could fit a pipe into the backplate. if you are fitting single socks, then you need a seperate tank. simply running a pipe to the floor like they used to do will result in oil patches everywhere unless you work out a setup that initially goes uphill to create an oil trap.

Makes sense. An irmscher air box is on my wish list but I don't know if they will mate to dellorto twin 40s

i've no idea what the differences are on the dellortos to the webers, i heard the irmscher airboxes weren't exactly the best flowing design anyway

Would look the part with an irmscher rocker cover on an irmscher nova spider though ;)

Can you not fit a breather box from a 1300 on the back of the block?

Have a look here

But you'd be better off changing that pipe for a one of these (loose the hose though on this picture)

And adding one of these to the end which is what I did on the sport and its been no problem

Almost certain that's exactly the same filter I used...
