View Full Version : What oil for F28 with gripper diff!?
As per title ^ I have an F28 with a gripper fitted, what oil should I be filling it with?
usually sae 80 possibly with an lsd additive...
who made the diff? cos they will recommend the right oil additives
now, before flying off to spend vast fortunes on oil, if you can find out the spec of LSD additive, CASE-IH tractors use one for zf axles, and don't get kidded into thinking it will be inferior, the abuse a tractor transmission takes means agric oils are pretty high spec

i use ATF in my grippers. its suitable for gears and has no additives that damage friction linings. a good quality silicone free motorcycle oil (for wet clutches) may be a suitable alternative. howerev, this has not been tested.
generally a gripper will need re built and set up with the correct ramp angles long before any damage has been done by use of in correct oils.
Apparently 'gripper' is the manufacturer?
I've seen this recommended somewhere http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-712-castrol-b-373-racing-gear-oil-sae-90.aspx
