Im going to be putting a nova gte engine in my saloon and i will be upgrading to a 4 branch manifold, i will be using a centre silencer but i dont want a loud rear silencer (i do alot of motorway runs) but dont want a restrictive system either so what are my options

weld in a 2nd centre box and keep the tailpipe size sensible

the last thing you want is a straight through on a motorway journey, the exhaust drown at the same pitch for miles and miles is enough to make you want to crash, you can still get free flowing centerboxes that will help reduce the noise and not restrict performance to much, from the fiats Ive been around the 4 branch manifolds do raise the dB's you could wrap it but alot of people dont like to wrap manifolds due to some cracking :tard:

I dont mind a bit of noise up front as i expect to get some induction noise from the cone filter its just that horrid drone i couldnt deal with. I was jut thinking of a standard rear silencer off another bigger engined vauxhall that is a similar fit to a rear silencer on a nova i can just weld a but of pipe on to the tip to extend the tip for my saloon

why dont you look at getting a new gte/gsi system and just extending it with a bit of straight pipe or a flexi

i had a mk1 astra with an e16se in it & used the original 1300 exhaust with no noticeable drop off in performance

the gte used the same diameter exhaust as the rest of the nova range, you can use the std saloon exhaust with a decent backbox to make a good setup

Thanks, but wouldnt i have to go for the gte center section as it bolts up to the downpipe? The manifold im going for has got a flange on it, is a sportex system off ebay

is it definitely for a gte, or just optimistic selling?? as the gte flange is a bit further back than the std one.

the 1.3 type would probably fit better. ask them about compatability with original systems before buying one.

ps. i sent you a pm.

Can you still buy the red ashley backboxes new?

yes, i believe so, but they are too short from the mount to fit a loon properly
