Disco ECU light

I took the starter motor off my 91 GSi this morning to clean up the connections and since I've put it back the ECU light keeps coming on at ir-regular intervals, sometimes it stays on for a few seconds then it goes off for ages, then flashes on and off then comes back on again - there's no pattern to when it goes on or off.
I removed the negative on the battery whilst doing the starter motor if that's anything to do with it?

The car still runs and idles fine but the ECU light is a bit worrying....

Any ideas?

bad earth somewhere. or youv knokced the cable that runs from the ecu to the dash light

check eveything around where uv been playing to see if anything is loose

Well I've just been out in it for the last 45 minutes and it didn't come on once!!

Oh well, If it happens anymore then I'll be here asking how I can bring up the codes using the old paperclip-in-the-plug routine!!!

Mine's done this a few times, usually after I've washed the engine :wink: Fixed by pulling the connactor on the ECU for a few minutes, all OK after that.
