The heater in my nova only works on the fastest setting, would this be motor or the switch? Any ideas? Cheers

Definatly the switch unless there is a resistor anywere else in the loom

Buy a new switch 1st mk1 astra and mk2 cavalier ones will fit if its a early nova
It'll be the resistor on the motor and they go brittle and the wires snap off

It's a mk 2 k reg...
Id go with the motor like Graeme said :thumb:
the resistor is what fails. the motor obviously works fine
we had a mk2 astra that had the same fault & the gm dealer sold us a repair kit (for a mk3 astra i think) that simply crimp connected in its place.

So if I just go main dealer and get a resistor that should fix it? Or is it worth just tryin to sorce a motor from somewere?
I have a fully operational one here, maybe the dealer could help you though

i have one that works on all 4 settings
I've got this problem on my new novavan along with a rattle from the fan. I've had a mk3 astra that had the same problem and i found it was the resistor pack that had died so i'm swinging towards the idea of the resistor pack but as i only got it today i haven't had the chance to investigate so any hints and tips are appreciated. as for the rattle would this just be a leaf or something in the blower? it's louder inside but still noticable outside
its usually the resistor pack.
but as for the noise, the nova heater fan hardly has decent bushes for the fan shaft, so it usually wears out the plastic body.
so i will probably be looking at a new fan then? cheers for the info and i will hopefully see some of the local club members at some meets in the coming year

I would be very surprised if you could get a new fan, you may be able to over haul the old fan with new bushes and resistor, not 100% sure though
have finally had a chance to investigate the fan noise and it is the bearing at the motor end of the shaft it has huge amounts of play in it has anyone got a spare fan?

give it a squirt of oil and it will run a while yet.
