rite lads and lasses. this is my daily hack and im a bit stuck...
its a z18xe running x16xe ecu, throttle (cable), loom, sensors... problem is its an EPAS model and iv just changed to a F15 box ( previously had a 1.2 16v one on lol loved fuel)
iv tried the speed sensor i took out the 1.2 gearbox and iv also tried another electric type speed sensor and its still not working...
obviously with the speedo out of action the electric P/S is also dead
im presuming i need the mechanical (cog type) speed sensor in the box but will also work the p/s or will i need one of those transducer thingy-ma-bobs??

I think the electric power steering works off engine RPM and vehicle speed off the gearbox sensor so will need to be electrical.

Is the pick up on the diff the same?

What was the F15 off? The Z18XE has an F17 with a pulse generator ring on it according to EPC. Is the speed sensor a manetic pick up also? If the F15 is an older box then it may be a gear driven speedo. You might have to fit the original diff or pick up ring in the new box so you have the correct pick up type.

EPAS needs a 15 impulse signal. I was thinking about fitting EPAS to a Nova with an F13 manual driven speedo cable but needed a signal for the EPAS so was going to fit this...

the F15 was originally from a tigra i believe, must be the cog driven speedo type then seen as iv tried two different electric speedo senors but could i just fit the normal cog type speed sensor and have it work the epas or is that not the case?

Prob would not work but worth a try. It would need to be 15 impulse.

What was fitted originally? Was the old one like 15 and the one you have now 14

no, there wasnt one in the F15 box i had kicking about but the one i took out of the 1.2 gearbox was like number 15 with a little nipple on the end and the one i found in the scrap yard was the same without the nipple on the end
