can anyone smooth boots eg: de-wiper and remove the handle and fit a boot popper ??

I could sell you a tidy early mk1 tailgate that has no wiper/washer holes as they were never fitted. Still has the lock hole(20mm round?) but no grip strip as its an early one.

Sorry to high jack, but is there a way of fitting a mk2 boot lock to an early boot lid? So all my locks would work on one key still?

You'd need the bootlock to fit an early boot and then swap all the internals from your lock Into the early type lock so you can use the same key. Any decent locksmith can do it for you.
