i'm making a true gullwing door conversion for my nova... not those shitty Lambo style ones... i'm going for the H section in the roof and doors that opens so that the tops sit back to back in the middle of the roof... if you get what i mean....

1st i want to know... has it been done... if so by who....

2nd has anyone thought about it and if so how did they plan it...

If u know me or look at my car you know i aint messin so please just let me know and don't say.... "It can't be done" coz it will... by me

Cheers (sorry for sounding cocky but i want it and i will make it)

I heard that Kingdom Developments started to do this to a Nova and gave up - cos it was too difficult. Now I'm not knocking your abilitys but if a company gives up on a idea like that then you're gonna have to be damn determined / rich to get yours done.
You could try phoning them to see why they gave up and any problems they had.

Just an idea.

yeah but surely cant be that different hinging them from the roof. just the same problem of whether the hinges fit and if you can put struts anywhere

The roof needs to be SERIOUSLY re-enforced, and the top of the door welded and smoothed to the edge of the roof, and etc.

Kingdom (or should i say Dom Miles, as he tried it when Kingdom was not a company - he started it after he learned how to make fiberglass moulds, and had his smoothed gsi bigmouth fronted nova featured in revs due to demand for his stuff off other people, though at first it was just favours for mates kinda stuff) gave up because a golf came out with gullwing doors, so they got disheartened. I may have just made that word up, but hey.

Also - "Matt Finarys flying machine had strange door iirc but i think they hinged off the a-pillar"

It did not have strange doors, and may have possibly had no doors at all, or even existed. Believe nothing you hear, and only half of what you see not 'in the flesh'.

I've been looking for pictures of that black nova for the past 2 years, have you got any more dare-devil?

Also could you find out exactly how these doors were achieved?

The arches foul the wheels. There's no way that'd pass the MoT, since there can be no suspension travel.

Looks good tho.

Although, even tho all these door conversions are pretty trick, i'd be too embarassed to open them in front of people.

Yeah. me and my friend did it so on his Nova. 8)

" cool.Marty " In germany, it is legal, if only the pattern on the tires, are inside the arches, and the rest is ok to stick out. And for the suspension, as long as it have a T?V, it's legal to drive with on the road's.
