been looking at vectra c's they seem really well speced and extreamly cheap, nice alternitive to a beemer etc..

was looking at the 3ltr v6 diesel ones but was unsure of what they would be like to live with, like the normal running costs, see on parkers there not to bad on fuel not great but should make a good motorway motor

so who has one or a diffrent vauxhall with the same engine, would be good to hear how you find them?

iirc they are only 180bhp, which considering the 1.9 is 150bhp, its pretty pants!

yer 176 i think, people seem to get well over 210 with a remap or tuning box which isnt to bad, loads more torque then the 1.9s aswell

Say hello to dropped liner gambles.... And I certainly wouldnt remap one let alone stick some shoddy tuning box on there.

I'd stick with the CDTI 150's

We were looking at V6 derv signums and saabs. The saab specialists told me to not bother.

what are the 1.9s like to live with then i had a astra van for a few weeks and it went really well (hated the indctor stalks tho never seemed to want to go off, so you push them down and start indcating the other way ) also seems like a daft thourght but the 1.9ltr engine in all these vauxhalls started of in fiats with only 85 odd hp, wtf have vauxhall done to make the extra power?

Brother in law has had a 3.0 Vectra from new, now has 180k on it. Only bother it has given him apart from routine (clutch & flywheel as well!) was the fuel pump packed in at 100kish miles, cost £600 to fix, and it hasn't looked behind it.
Lovely driving things too, lazy power delivery makes a great cruiser. Once you drive one, you couldn't compare it to a 1.9.

shonky old E34 TDS :) 140 odd bhp standard so similar to the 1.9 vauxhalls, can get a good one for £800 if you look around, expect to renew all the bushes etc though, I spent about £400 doing it properly, I.E every link arm and ball joint replaced, bonus is it drives like new now too. Straight 6 sound actually comes out with a decat and a backbox and it's RWD/BMW build too!

Just don't expect epic MPG, I get high 20's around town and about 40's on a run. Mines just hit 195k and probably needs the head off for the first time in it's life for a chain refresh and some lifter attention, which is fairly common and to be fair probably doesn't help that MPG figure! Personally I like the looks of them too, like a bigger grown up E30.

if it's MPG you want though, my diesel nova was nutty, 71MPG up to Manchester, went to Uxbridge and back for about £6.20, etc etc. Corsa should be similar and easier to find!

i dont just want good mpg i want a big cumfy car to bomb up and down the m1, something that will sit at 80/90 mph and be happy while doing it

MPG is actually better at 80/90MPH on the autobahn/my private road than sitting at 70, awesome motorway cruiser to be honest :) and as a bonus they survive a HGV to the side!

Early Veccy C stalks had the self cancelling issues but iirc there was a software fix to sort it lol

I'd take a CDTI150 veccy C over lots of things (although I do love the PD130 passat I'm currently hacking about in, about to pull another 53mpg run from a trip to Ginetta tomorrow lol)

the other thing its bound to end up doing it towing the nova to trackdays that are further away from home, just incase something goes tits up

looks like i could pick up a clean vectra c 150 with under 100k on the clocks, for under 1500 quid aswell,

v6 tax is 250 a year compared to the 170 for the 1.9, and the 1.9 is ment to do high 40mpg compared to the mid 30's for the v6 there isnt much init when it comes to insurance

And dont forget the gamble of the liner drop (new engine time) issue on the Vee's lol

nah i love a manual gearbox, nothing better then after a long motorway journey then shifting down a couple gears and really pedaling a car around some corners, cant get that kinda thrill from a auto

I have a vectra c Sri 150 1.9 cdti estate. Good car, wouldn't go for the v6 diesel myself

I am considering selling the vectra as I just don't need anything that big anymore, but it works so well I am worried will not get anything as good
