What pisses me off is the whole 'ooh, too many people have passed, means it's too easy' and etc. So then they increase the grade bandings, and next year too many fail, so then they make it easier and etc.

Every second year the new students get 'unlucky' and do shit coz of the exam boards.

And also, this year they're saying that because 95% have passed (it only means a grade above F, not like everyone's been getting A's and B's for fuck sake!) it's because students are choosing all the 'easy' A Levels.

There's a post on NTL asking

"Are A-level students playing the system by choosing 'easier' subjects?"

WTF!? And what's the point of this poll anyway!? The only people who say 'yes' are one's that probably never even passed a GCSE, and are just jealously bitter. Ask the fuckin students!

Easy A'Levels? What does it matter! Sure, i guess there may be some 'multiple choice question exams' ones or something where you don't have to apply logic to solve problems/answer questions/write an essay on a subject.

BUT even if it IS true, those A'Levels will mean fuck all when applying for jobs as employers wont value them, and even if they allow you to get points to go to a Uni (a good one at that), you'd only be able to cope with an easy (and those DO exist at Unis) 'Micky Mouse' Degree, which again will be worth fuck all when you get it, or if you get on a degree course that's actually worth something, it'll be just as challenging for that person with his 'easy A'levels' as for the one with 'hard/normal' ones. And in fact, they then wouldn't be able to cope then would they!? As if they can, means they can cope with 'hard/normal' A Levels.

Erm, maybe students are picking A'levels that actually interest them, and one's that are needed for them to go into their chosen fields of career.

And the 95% pass rate is because there is a wider choice of subjects, so students are more likely to find a subject that interests them - and obviously you're far more likely to do well in that, than in one you loathe.

Also, it is because the 'weaker' students are not entered into the exams, offered alternative courses and etc.

Basically, it's like crime rate figures. It not the figures that are of interest, but the way the statistics are collected and reported.

And FINALLY, why the fuck am i even bothered about htis shit!? I did my A'Levels 6 years ago!

easy my arse lol. they were hard when i did mine

Electronics - A (no effort required cos i have a natural flair for it ;) )
Physics - D
Maths - U

now 2:2 BEng (Hons) Automotive Electronics Engineering

prehaps the students that arent utter wankers at school are realising that they can be clever and not appear to be a nerd so they make the effort and acctually do well.

i read through the GSCE maths papers for this eyar (the gf gets them as shes got to know what level the primary kids should be at) first 2 were easy, then the last one was a bit of a thinker lol
