had a tweeked 1.4sr engine built for my nova, now it seems i'm not gonna have it on the road til feb next year now so my question is will it hurt the engine to be sat for 6 months without being run in/doing very little mileage?

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as you leave it in good condition thats how you'll find it.

drop some oil down the bores... leave the pistons at half way... my 1.4 engine was fine for 2 years like this

with mine i tiped a little oil into the bores then gave it a few turns by hand.

did an oil change once fitted back into the car and gave it a few more turns by hand before trying to start it

as above - keep it somewhere dry and protected - where it wont get knocked or stuff wont get down the inlets/pipes etc...

Mine was finwe after sitting for 12 months - take it easy for first few 100 miles and do full service.
