Hi i have a nova 1.4 sri 1992 and it has started to cut out at junctions when the engine is warm, start the engine again and it fires staight up and idles fine. (seems to be fine when engine is cold).I have done the paperclip test which came up as the Vss. Looked up on the forum about the symptoms of a failing Vss and it seemed plausible I wanted to change my dash for a digi so wired it in and in the process changing the Vss for the electrical transducer/Vss no joy, still cutting out. Changed the camshaft sensor and the idle control valve (icv) still no joy :( . Once its warm and u slow down if you blip the throttle before u stop it will then idle all be it a little roughly. It runs beautifully other then the idling problem and pulls like a train, Any ideas would be great Cheers Stu :)

Is the wiring to the VSS ok? Thats the most likely thing its going to be. Could maybe be the idle control valve but if it idles ok once started up again etc it must be ok...

Hi the wiring to the VSS is ok, i have replaced the original one with a second hand one from the digi dash but this time the wires go staight to the dash not into the original plug from the old VSS( which is now left blank). Unless the transducer for the digi dash is knackered too, but the dash is working well so i don't know ? is there any other sensor i am missing which could cause this ? :)

Starts from cold beautifully without the need to rev. just stalls when is warmed and at the right temp. :)

thats why i said it. the engine/ecu thinks the car is cold and is over fueling when up to temperature.

Not sure where they are tbh on the SRi's, if its borked that might be causing you problems though
