Evenin guys

My 1.3 SR is rapidly, well, quickly, reaching the 130,000 mile mark. It is still strong and pulls well, but I am worried about the age of the head gasket etc....it is a 1985 1.3 SR.

I have recently changed the cambelt, but there is a noise of like a worn race bearing or something at the end of the cam, near where the belt joins?

How much would it cost to get my lump reconditioned? Does it entail a huge amount of work, and are there any bits I can do to lower the cost?

Thanks all

Steve

If your competant enough to remove and refit yourself, it's cheaper to find a good runner and chuck it in.

I did think of that Mike, so I took it down the local vaux garage and the guy said the belt tension was okay :)

I think I will look for a 1.4 SR motor with a good service history and lowish miles, keep it as a spare till the 1.3 dies....would make it cheaper and easier I guess.....

.....does the 1.4 share the same loom as the 1.3, I'm guessing it does because the difference between them is minimal.

Cheers

There are no race bearings in an engine, but I have similar noise. It's the bearings in the alternator, just as well we're doing a new engine.
