most people take cats cut them off with an diamond disk cutter (or something similar) so would they just cut them off

in our area, the weapon of choice is a reciprocating saw.. this thing is designed to make some noise & hold them up a bit.

think about the ones for trucks... a euro IV conversion cat costs about £5k to replace...

a friend had hers nicked from under her galaxy at the shops.....

Thats why my astra is sat on its ass, youd need to be a very skinny git indeed to get under that to rob my cat lol

Stealing cats off cars has been about for a while tbf, and we had a spate of cars coming in at my old work, after having their tanks drilled with a hole saw to drain the fuel out, with prices being so high im surprised it doesnt happen more often tbf, and the ones that were having it done (elderly) are such an easy target in the theives eyes, tanks are almost always full, and they dont think about where they park them so usually theyre away from cctv/street lights overnight, and they dont get used very often so the theives have plenty of time!

That and the fact that most new cars have plastic tanks, makes them rich pickings, look for a motab tax disc holder and its almost guaranteed to have a full tank!

Those cat locks are actually very effective

We have an ambulance in the yard at work, which the thieving gits have hacked the DPF off, but left the cat lol costs £2.5k for a new one and the pipes/wiring they have damaged, but is only worth it's weight in steel lol

There was also a sprinter I remember, which had it's cat nicked in a travel lodge carpark, up north, we recovered it, replaced the damaged exhaust and cat, and fitted a cat-loc. next week, it's been nicked again, in the same carpark, but this time they took the DPF and the rest of the system too.
So we repaired it all again, then welded up every joint, clamp, bracket and bolt, fitted another cat lock, and then welded in a big steel shield, so you actually cannot reach it at all. then we wrote "ha ha try and take it now, you thieving scum" on the shield, and "but you can have this bit" on the back box lol

We had some thieving scrote cut all the cats off the Boxer vans on the pitch at work. They got picked up doing it on the CCTV and coppers nabbed him before he got away. Luckily we got the cats back and the bodyshop got a bit of extra work welding them all back on.

Owners are as bad.The amount of my customers who leave their car keys on a hook near the door, making it easy for a hook a duck champion diddycoy to retrieve.

I leave mine near the door to make sure any would be thief can grab the keys and **** off, rather than ransack the house.

If people wanna go down for 3-5years for a diesel 1300 astra or combo then i shall leave them to it hahaha.

I leave the keys to the company car on the worktop and my old laptop downstairs so if they did manage to get in the would hopefully grab them and fcuk off and leave me to sleep upstairs

I leave my car keys in my pocket or on my bedside drawers, never anywhere in sight

But as a bloke i saw on a plice camera action special pointed out, he had three cars taken from his drive as all the keys were in sight, they were in and out and gone in all three cars within about two minutes, he would rather they take what they want and fook off, than have to sack the house and put weapons to his/his family's faces/necks/lives and threaten/hurt them to take the cars, everything you own in insured, and replaceable, apart from you and your loved ones, leave your keys in plain sight, they will/should take them, and nothing else!

Makes sense tbf!

Yes i see your point, but probably 80-90% of thieves are just opportunists...who would just take the keys you leave on show, whereas if they were hidden they just wouldnt bother
