Its mine now

Mark
15-08-03, 06:51 AM
Well done Brian, what you going to put in it?

Ben (lurk75)
15-08-03, 09:07 AM
From talking to Brian he will be probably putiing a C16 XE in it as this is his choice engine.

SWINE

Rick Draper
15-08-03, 11:06 AM
Or maybe it had a C16XE in it ste with the origional wide belt setup   Rick

brian
15-08-03, 10:00 PM
i will be runin a 1600 8v GSi setup to start with but i don't plan to stay that way! ill be on the prowl for webers and info on the the best setup when using them etc soon enough!

Ben the c16xe is for the Green GSi and that engine ill use in the rally car.

no panic anyway as planin to have it for january

Ben (lurk75)
16-08-03, 12:08 AM
Still a swine

dave.gsi
16-08-03, 12:20 AM
so you put the 16V in the green one and the green ones 8V in the new one?

why dont you just put the 16V in the new one then you only have to do one engine swap

Mark
16-08-03, 12:23 AM
Actually that does seem like a very good sugestion!
:D

brian
16-08-03, 12:34 AM
because im buying the 16v for the road car.
i had one before and want one again. plus i want to start with a cheaper engine. the 16v is 4 times the price of the 8v.

Its not a lot of work for me. ill swap the 8v over and fit the 16v in a day.

Maybe in time ill go 16v in the rallycar but not until i get started.

dave.gsi
16-08-03, 12:38 AM
so the rally car will stay a rally car?? you not gonna put it on the road? does seem like a waste

Mark
16-08-03, 12:38 AM
Well that explains that then.

brian
16-08-03, 12:57 AM
why is it a waste to not use a rally car as a rally car?
thats what i bought it for. have been lookin out for a suitable prep'd shell all summer and now i have one to start with next year.

Mark
16-08-03, 01:02 AM
so the rally car will stay a rally car?? you not gonna put it on the road? does seem like a waste
When you've driven a rally you'll understand.
Go on tell me you have actually driven in a rally!
Make me look silly - Again!

dave.gsi
16-08-03, 01:03 AM
a waste cos you'll never have the pleasure of wasting someone at the lights in it. only beating the stopwatch

Ben (lurk75)
16-08-03, 01:04 AM
Make me look silly - Again!

You do that well enough yourself

brian
16-08-03, 01:06 AM
my road car will probably be quicker for now.
it will make me a lot happier down a stage.
The traffic lights thing was great about 5 years ago

dave.gsi
16-08-03, 01:07 AM
lol, no i've never driven a rally car. but i reckon it'd be a great laugh. thats why it'd be a shame not to let it loose on the road. must be even more fun then

brian
16-08-03, 01:09 AM
well if ya think the road is fun just think what i would be like with pacenotes and knowing nothing is comin the opposite direction!

Mark
16-08-03, 01:10 AM
The thing about a rally is that you get to drive at break neck speeds knowing that the road ahead is clear (well apart from the sheep) so no risk to others. That provides an all together different driving experience!

Ben (lurk75)
16-08-03, 01:17 AM

Ian
16-08-03, 07:05 PM
wont be out til next year, not rushing it now. has been on hold for a month or so while dave from bat went on hol and before that for the rallying. still not picked a colour yet. insides all welded up ready for paint now. plan is to get whole shel in primer then start in engine while leaving primer a while to settle. still got parts to get yet such as engine bits and need an f20 casing.

Mark
16-08-03, 07:23 PM
Ah that suits Brian much better, well done Ian.

brian
16-08-03, 07:34 PM
tee hee! :drinking:

Mark
16-08-03, 09:28 PM
Talking of shells, got a brand new Mk2 shell for next year, started to prep it up and should be sweet when finished.

Mark
16-08-03, 09:29 PM
Sorry, should have said brand new shell for rallying.

brian
16-08-03, 10:06 PM

Mark
16-08-03, 10:26 PM

DazK
16-08-03, 10:52 PM
where did u get it from ? :o

Mark
16-08-03, 10:54 PM
Believe it or not, a barn.

Fester
16-08-03, 10:55 PM
someone needs to take a trip to spain to find all these 1.2s that are just parked 'in a warehouse never used' :!:

Mark
16-08-03, 10:57 PM
Warehouse, what warehouse?

DazK
16-08-03, 10:58 PM
:o i would pay good money for a brand new shell .. no worrys about rust and damage! :P and out of curiousity .. if the shell has never been registered when u register it will u get a upto date Reg No?? :?:

brian
16-08-03, 11:02 PM
will u get a upto date Reg No??
technically you could build a 2003 car but you pick a model eg.GSi and build it to exact manufacturers spec with all brand new gm parts.

Fester
16-08-03, 11:08 PM
any car thats never been registered, when registered will get the latest up to date plate!

there are a few 3 door cossies that have never been regisered

theres always been 'talk' of a load of 1.2 spins or something no ones said anything for ages though lol

might just be one of those ongoing joke things, but dont think it is

Mark
16-08-03, 11:09 PM
Thankfully don't have that problem as the shell was registered as a 1992 GSi but never fitted. - I reckon a dodgy insurance deal.

Ian
16-08-03, 11:11 PM
lol @ fester and the old rumours.

there was a 96 nova at pv2003 been built from last of new shells

Fester
16-08-03, 11:14 PM
were there any in spain or dealers over here gathering dust?

Ian
16-08-03, 11:25 PM
no none at all. it was looked at a lot on the nova owners mailing list years ago, members in europe looked into it and people contacted vauxhall with no luck.

Mark
16-08-03, 11:36 PM
Did sound like a bit of a goose chase, but you never know, Honda opened there own hidden warehouse with over 2000 stored bikes last year!

Nova-Flair
17-08-03, 11:18 AM
i heard from a vauxhall dealer that some bloke bought the last 50 nova shells vauxhall had for ?10k.

jammy fcuker tho thats a possible 50 2003 reg novas sitting there!!!!!!

Mark
17-08-03, 11:38 AM
Mmmnnnn ?200 a shell, that would be nice!

Jim
17-08-03, 07:48 PM
I phoned Vauxhall a few months ago reagarding Nova Shells. They had no record of any Nova shells anywhere in this country (surprise surprise) but they did say that there may be a slight chance of one or two stored away somewhere. If I'm correct, when Vauxhall order parts they sometimes get them shipped from Germany, so I'm guessing the parts database is probably for Europe, so if there were no shells in the UK, I'm guessing there are none in Europe either :(

It's so annoying, everytime I go to my local vauxhall and order anything for my Nova he tells me of all the parts he's had to bin. This weekend he told me he had to destroy a load of Nova doors, wings, bonnets, etc  The guys probably talking out of his a**e, but I suppose if there wanting to get rid of old stock then theres nothing else to do but scrap it. If only Vauxhall lowered there prices on Nova parts perhaps they wouldnt have so many bits to bin :|

Jim

When my dad does the stock checks he has 2 bin certain nova parts, or sell them off at stupidly low prices which is good 4 me! got a brand new brake servo last, for a 1.2 which i paid pennies for!
The amount of parts he says he has 2 throw is unreal!
Novanutters bumpers were cheap
And i got a brand new passengers side door for a 3 dr if ne1 is interested!
still in black!

Ben (lurk75)
17-08-03, 09:25 PM

brian
17-08-03, 09:40 PM
I blame Ian completely

Mark
17-08-03, 09:42 PM
