Hi, I come back with another project. Now with a big block nova. The current progress of the car its over here:

The assembly of the car is very bad and the idea for these year its try we can do with the actual potential of the car, never we have an XE nova to ride or see or something similar. So, To begin we will see that this car is made.:thumb:

Ok, the first thing to do its check the engine and car loom. The conexions are scary and a few things dont work well.

All the innecesary wires are out of the car.

I dont have the previous pic, but into the stereo place we have 3 gauges(water temp, Amp and oil presure) I think that the standar dash its perfect and its better remove these clocks.

Well, all ok for the first event to the car. Its necessary make several changes into the car, but the results are fantastics. We finish 24 of 46, and we star into the last position.

Well, to update the car. We star to save some weight, and made the car a race car.

I bought a few things to improve the car, for example, after bought them, we discover that the previous owner use a modifie exhaust manyfold to chop the standard XE manifold with a standard 16SE exhaust. Now we go replace the manifold for another a few better with a full custom exhaust system.

Thanks guys, we go start to repair the TPS, replace the rear strut brace, made a better spacers, choose the correct position for the octane swicht, reduce weight, made the seat mounts support, made a set of policarb windows, put the internal gearknob, and a few more things to prepare the car for the second events in these season.

But don’t worry, the thread it’s as the same level right now, the only change what happened these days it’s we striped the engine out to prepare the chassis for the 2013 season. We star at June in the 3º event.

Yes, i love the GTE style, well, i star to strip the car and i hope that these weekend the engine stay out.

I send the shocks to repair, one its totaly destroyed and its necessary replace all the parts.

We lost the damper adjustement into the repair but they are news again, i need to search a new suspension kit, ok these is the car right now, waiting for me. lol

Well, these days we change the exhaust manifold 4-1 by a standard 4-2-1. And obviously we have problems with the front ARB clearance, we decide to make the spacers into a piece of Nylon as you can watch into the technical forum.

Looking into the Opel EPC, i found 3 type of front ARB(18-20-22mm). The program not say nothing about models use each bar, but looking into my storage, i found a kit of 21 mm tie arms and 22 mm ARB.

We must replace the old manifold because in the las event i cut too much in a fast harpin and hit the exhaust. The old manifold dont touch with ARB and we dont need the spacers, but the reparations arent cheap and we decide install the standard manilfold. The most cheap and quickly solution is use a Nylon piece that we have in the garage, ajjaajja

Here is an other project for the team, its for road use with 1.6 OHC engine, webber 40 IDF, Kent cam, custom full exhaust and a few gr4 rear axle modifications. Now i have a problem, the master brake servo is KO by rust, the project is nearly finish and with this reparation is ready to start up and test.

Use a Big hole saw the size you want

bolt a 3 mm plate via the 2 8mm holes in the strut top mark and drill the centre or the centre you want and drill away the plate is just a guide I've tryed similar with thinner plate and got bad results but bonus is bolt it on other top and it's pre set for the same

you can use thick ply if you wanted

This weekend, we go to a near circuit, "Vasco Sameiro" in Portugal to do test with the nova. All goes fabulous, the car balance is perfect and no major tuning must do it but its necessary to find a problem with the ignition system that produces problems with full and middle accelerations and change oil sump and pump gaskets "again".

I was looking at these track rod ends and was wondering if you could fit them on the underside of the hub rather than the top to keep the angle of the rack more horizontal with lowered susspension.

did you have to drill out the taper to make the hole in the hub parallel since you have done away with the track rod taper? i was thinking the bolt that goes through the ball joint and hub would want to move about in the taper all the time.

Yeah, in the two next sessions the track surface was dry quickly and the grip of the R888 and slicks was necessary. But unfortunately we only have old wheels to waste on test.

Well, bad news unfortunately. I have an accident last weekend during a hill climb race, the car have several damages that put the project on hazard. So, we are searching another car to replace these, ready to race or for spares to repair the current car. Many options pass for my mind right now, rebuilt the 2.0L nova with the problems to do rally at my local championship or try to built a 1.6L and we have options to do rally and hill climb races.

Jeezo that's been a big off but as said previously shows that the roll cage does it job as it could have been a sh17 load worse :-(

not much to do when it happens.. I fall down around 4 m and hit with a stone. Not spectators damaged and not big personal damage.

Yes, the accident is a bit spectacular as you can see at the videos. I cant do nothing for the moment on the car, i have the new chassis at the garage to start to strip down the old car and rebuild the project, but i don't decide yet what engine y use for it...
