Gearlinkage Part Identity and Problem.. Nova GTE

Hi guys, ive managed to cause a part of my linkage to come apart. Its the square part at the end of the control rod, it has a plastic cover over the top and seems to be some sort of ball joint. i tried pushing it back in and repeatedly failed in trying to lock it in. Just looking for the name of that part and also if it is secured in position or the joint holds it in place. Im also not sure if this part is standard for the nova or been changed due to the c20xe gearbox. Its held together with a cable tie atm resulting in some seriously sloppy gear changes.

it's std nova.

its part of the gear linkage.
