What in your opinion is the best colour for a nova?? As I believe some cars do look better in some colours rather than others??
Reason I ask is when I strip the car in the the summer I will be spraying it but not sure what colour to do it.
I like white but IMHO the shuts and lines are two gappy. Black seems to loose the shape a bit!? But not seen a black one in the flesh. (So to speak)
Opinion and any reasons accepted. ( bias opinion expected :) but helpfull)
I may do it the colour it is. Even though I didn't like it to start with its growing on me!
This is what I have.

Opinions!?
Go.

I think it depends a lot on what model it is. A GSI or GTE looks awesome in black, but a vinyl covered SR or base model not so much, as the grey bits clash. I think saloons look best in white, but as my first Nova was a 2 door white saloon my opinion maybe biased on that one.
Whats the original colour called? is it a factory one?
For me it depends what model the car is if that makes sense?
Love a white mk1 sr/sport, black Gte and silk violet for a GSI
Regatta blue ftw........:thumb:

Well the car is a bit of a Hines 52. It's a 1.4 luxe mk2 with GTE seats and rear painted like s GTE and it will be getting a c20xe in the summer. So it's not one thing or another.
It's more all the things I couldn't afford to do as a teen. :)
I've got a jungle green Calibra 4x4 T. And I like the colour but its a bugger to keep looking clean. Green is off the cards for me. (But still a wining colour :) )

Lazer blue but be aware all numpties will think its Arden till you park at side of a vxr
Gte Calypso, Gsi Silk violet, 1.3 Sr Jam yellow. Early hatch/loon brown or leaf green. Poverty spec mk2's Miami blue :d
I resprayed my SR in the original black, as a complete colour change required far more work, but in hindsight, I think it would look so much better in polar white.
Lazer blue for mk1 nd diamond black mk2

Feck off wench, you knows Reg Blue is a sexy colour :d
I never said it wasn't. I ment just cause a colour is rare doesn't mean it's good. Just means no one picked it in the first place.
Ooh, you hurtful swine, just because loads of grannies bought hearing aid beige novas originally, doesnt mean they had taste, and because they bought all the beige ones, left all the reg blue ones on the shelf means nothing lol

IMO the best nova colours are breeze blue , flame red , steel grey and good old glacier white lol

Your never going to get an unbiased opinion in threads like this - everyone has there own personal favourates
Dark colours always look mint when clean and dent free, but pale colours always hide imperfections etc
Metalics look good when in the light, but are dificult to match colours when repaints necessary - solid colours easier to match
In my opinion if your going to the trouble of a full repaint - you might as well change the colour to a none vauxhall colour to make it a bit different - stand out from the rest
But saying that - you dont see many nova's these days to compare it with :)

First one to mention steel grey. Which I have also thought of doing mine.
I'm surprised that so many people think certain models look better in certain colours. As there all the same shape.
This question was asked on a Calibra site and the majority of people agreed mag blue was the colour that suited the shape of the car best.
While it was also agreed if it was a DTM it has to stay white (as factory intended) and all LE's are black.
Where certain colours only available in certain modles?? (Ie Vaux didn't make a sola yellow 4x4 Calibra)
Tbh blue's looking to be the fav so far along with white.
But yes as you say Benn it's all down to personal taste.

Some good points made. I was just curious as to people's opinion. I've not taken the car off the road yet and it's not getting paint for at least a yr from know. Just thoughts at the mo.:)

im not biased or anything.
Diamond black for me. Nice and exclusive as it was a Gsi only colour.
Calypso red for a GTE, 100%.
Silk Voilet/Diamond black for GSi.
Jam yellow for mk1 SR.
Breeze blue for mk2 SR.
Probably for me anyway. lol The GTE and GSi colours are definites.
i have to agree with spud, that is a fab awsome coulor for a nova.

Mine started as a 1.2 and was diamond black from the factory.
I usually like black the best for most cars but the colour annoyed me as it never looked as gleaming as other black cars and looked dull/dirty. I think red is the best for a nova but it all depends on the styling.
I have this dilema with my RS1600i. it's Schartz/black, but doesn't look as good as the white/red/blue/grey/silver cars.
Oh well. lol

That's the only one I've ever heard of then. Was pretty sure all base spec ones were non metallic black.

Dont really have a WIP thread as such, just amassing parts for it atm having bolster and cracked dash repaired, just bought some correctly prt numbered wheels for it (mine were previously diamond cut) and been rewiring the aux lights, windows etc.

Looks like a good one youve got there.

Cheers sport. That's the hope! I bought it on condition first, originality second and sadly, colour last.
I only have a black one cos this was well priced.

Im sure a few months ago there was a diamond 1.2 for sale on here aswell, think i've seen a few. Still a great colour for a nova though, if i was to get another i suppose it would have to be diamond black. In fact the only build that i would do would be exactly the same as your car lol
