right so looking at the lenght of bolts for the nova, there are loads of odd numbers going on

m10-32mm
m10-19mm
m10-24mm.....................you get the idea :p

when looking at fixing shops they only sell them in even numbers, so should i buy over the size required and cut them down (how do i go about doing this with out ruining the thread ), would it be much of a problem to run m10x30 bolts where vauxhall ran m10x32, its only 2mm can it really make that much diffrence?

cheers

You need 3 turns minimum in a nut/bolt assembly... You get the idea.

Oh and stick with 10.9 grade bolts NOT 12.x as they are toooo brittle.

are 8.8 not strong enough for most things

8.8 will 'do' but 10.9 is the weapon of choice.

Go with 10.9s, they will have the correct shear strength for suspension components etc.

tk, if you are struggling for the right size, then by all means buy longer bolts.... as long as the shank is the right length.. resist the urge to buy 'set screws' that are threaded all the way to replace bolts, as the threads can chatter away over time, causing wear.

what are the fixings that hold the wings and other body trim on called? the ones that look like small hex headded screws

Speed bolts hold wings on.

You can cut bolts down for the right length without ruining the thread. The best way is to wind a nut on, cut to length then take the nut off, then it will straighten out any dodgey thread while un-doing it
