1990 1.4sr starting problems

I've got a 1990 1.4sr. When starting the car after its been left for a few hours, it will start and cut out. Sometimes it won't even start, it will just crank, then once you attempt to start the car again its usually alright. Does anyone know what this could be? Dodgey fuel pump? Thanks,

It could be a few things really.

When did you last service it i.e. plugs, leads, dizzy cap, rotor arm, battery and oil change to name a few.

It could be a dodgy wire on the starter/alternator.

How well does it run when just on tick over, wheres it rev at?

Also have you had your timing checked over recently?
