Nova Gsi Stockhatch

I have been wanting to do this for a few years now,and after the 205 gti was finished i got bored quickly and wanted another project but something different from what i normally do.
I have wanted to be involved in a form of motorsport for longer than my memory and this is the only type available to my financial reality.
So in August this year i went for a day out with a friend to my local autograss track which is only 8miles away.
The original plan was always 1600 8v stockhatch,cheapest and simplest class-the clue is in the title!
The planned car was a Saxo Vtr,cheap as chips and easy to get hold of in terms of spares etc.
But after watching the races,and speaking to a few existing members (who nearly ALL had nova's) the Citroen/Peugeots arent as well geared for this track as a trusty old nova lol
Anyways,got talking to some spot on blokes who gave us advice and one of them mentioned his nova was for sale.It came 2nd so was a quick car.Had a good look round,even though i had no clue what to look for lol,its a weird feeling not giving a fukk if theres any rust or owt!
Pondered it for a couple of months and then after finally getting moved and settled in i rang the seller and went to view and struck a deal.Its now in my garage.
Needs a few loads panel repairs,and the engine looking at as it smokes a bit and runs on 3 til the spark plugs are cleaned.
Plans for this?? Well,to get it running right and to race the thing lol
Only got a couple of pics at the minute but there really isnt anything pretty to look at lol
Its actually straight other than panels and is quite solid too.Fully seam welded at the front,spec includes;
Ali race seat,5 point harness,full cage,pop off wheel,standard e16se,ali tank and battery box.Also got a sh1t load of spares thrown in with it also:)

One thing i will say,if people say "ZOMG you epic tool,you scum,you ruin novazz" etc then dont bother posting,just press the back button,or the red X in the top right hand corner and proceed to begin your journey to fukk.

Yesterday i did some work at this,was gonna pick up a cambelt but there is a choice of 2 so i needed to remove the old belt to see what type i had.
Couldnt crack the crank pulley bolt and the impact gun i had access to was no match for the bolt.
Will lock the flywheel off another day lol
So after that i did actually want to achieve summat and not waste the day so i removed the plugs and found wet oil on them so the rings are still high on the suspect list but not confirmed til i do a wet and dry compression test.
I removed the harness i bought on ebay and took it indoors to clean it up.
It was filthy and stank of stagnant water/damp.
Filled up a bucket of hot water and added some wash powder to the bucket..

Thought id update this as its been a while.
Not raced it this year,and with only two races left this season and needing an engine rebuild,its safe to say next year is now my aim.
It got left from the day I bought it up until recently as I had no funds to put into it and recently moved house again.
So.....
Obviously I needed a way to get it to and from the track,spotted this trailer local,half finished "just needs finishing" he said lol whatever.
Had to reweld the whole thing as I think hes used a soldering iron.
Painted it black too as blue looked muck imo
Only JUST fits in my garage,which had to be modified to accompany it lol

Said modz lol The garage door legs are now removable (old ones rotten too so made 2 bads good) 6mm plate either side with dome bolts and wing nuts inside for quick release to remove trailer....

amazingly this vosa dodger is finished ready for the 1st race of the season on sunday,as per pic im representing/disreputing the PNG (lol) in a e/z16se hybrid powered Nova,in the stockhatch class.
Its had a full engine rebuild.
Special thanks to Maddogdaz for the bumpers,and Mowgli for his help/guidance and advice,without the help of you lads it could well still be in bits!

Today was race day,what a day.Weather was spot on,as were all the other competitors and organisers who helped me find my way about,get set up in the pits etc.
Car performed superb all day,with only the bootlid coming loose after 2nd race the only concern (its bolted shut,vibrations will have caused looseness)
Tyre choice and pressure was wrong,but other people informed me on this,and gave advice to what pressures to run,followed their advice and it was like a different car in the corners.Came last in all but one race (3 heats plus final) but thoroughly enjoyed it and very pleased with how mechanically sound the car was given the work its had done,and the fact its still running in.

top banger racing

This has been racing all season getting faster all the time.
Iv made a few changes,first was a Pipercross air filter courtesy and very kindly donated by Edd.
Then I got some of the tyres everybody else uses and fitted inner tubes to them,then I got hold of some 6j wide manta gte wheels for the front which makes it corner a lot better.
I also acquired a sunstrip off another car I robbed some bits off before it got scrapped.Yes even grassers have to go to the bridge someday too lol.
Here is a small video of a red flagged race somebody filmed.
It was our dash for cash meeting (for money).I finished 5th heat 1,3rd heat 2,4th heat 3 and made it into the final out of 2 grids of my class.
Very tense atmosphere in the final,got red flagged on lap 1 and we all received warnings for err contact shall we say lol
Anyway it was rerun and I finished a respectable 4th.

York last sunday.Heavy contact all day lol
Made the final and took a huge hit to the nsf which ripped the bumper off and pushed the wing in.Frantically trying to get the bumper back on to get back out for the rerun (red flagged)
Managed to bodge it on finger tight attached only at the wing lol wedged the grill under the slam panel and went back out,only 4 of us this time and got 4th.Pleased to say as it was my first time at York,the track is very different to scarborough!

Aye it was your 2nd meet I think you said. I can imagine it takes some getting used to like. Yeah steves still got his but its bust at the moment and hes got that many hobbies/things on the go he hasnt really got the time for it. I think my other mate Maco has still been going though. He shares the white AX with his brother, cant think of his number now.

Season finished on Sunday with the final meeting of the year.
Car lasted the whole season :d:d very pleased.
Made the finals and finished 5th.
Finished 6th overall in my class out of 20 drivers who have competed throughout the season,quite pleased.
Reshell and new cage is required for next season.
Watch this space (if ya care lol)

3rd place in championship at my club and also best newcomer shield.Very happy overall considering what was a very trying season.

Iam thinking about having a crack myself it seams fairly cheap motorsport. U must have got the hang of it now with them results

I have just about aye.setup is very important.people just say you go round and round and how hard can it be etc.theres much more to it than that.
See if your local club have a hire car,ours will have one next year so people can try it out.

New colour scheme for 16 too.yellow bits will change colour.iv also gotta change both door skins and a passenger wing plus pull a huge dent out drivers quarter.plus a new engine is on the cards
