Tony i'd love to have the engine off you m8... only the other day was wondering whether to do engine conversion or get a new car... with a FREE Gsi the desicion is easy....

PM me if you think i'm a worthy cause...

Why would you need an engine lift for an 8v?

heaviest engine iv encountered was the 1.5TD with gearbox fited. tryingto get it into the back of a nova just the 2 of us was a nightmare. couldnt find anything decent to get hold of and there fck heavy :|

Yeah diesels are a pain. Also trying to put it in the rear of a nova with the gearbox on is awkward as virtually the same width as the boot opening.

Best bet with any o the engines is take the box off and lift each bit in on your own, that way no one can drop it, move awkwardly etc.

we didn't.... but tony left it out for us :D... having engine in back didn't affect handleing either

Engine lifts get in the way as they foul on the tailgate.

not sure

but obviously had the turbo strapped on the manifold and the fuel pump is attached at the back.

might just have been becuz i couldnt find a comfy spot to grip it

picked up a 1.6 16v after and it felt much lighter. and the 1.4 8v felt very light compared :D

Dicko you shud feel the weight of a 2ltr turbo or just a 2ltr 16 valve engine they are heavy! Rick

im on about putting it into he back of a nova with gearox attached FCK AWKWARD and leaning over is not easy with that kinda weight

i lifted my 16v on+off my engine stand alone. so its not a case of pure weight i can manage that ;)
