On my E16SE GSI the coolant needs changing, but the Haynes manual says that to remove the thermostat I need to take the cambelt off! Anyone know of a work around or better way to flush the system and replace the coolant?

Cheers

I've never changed the coolant on one but can't you just take the bottom pipe off the rad?

As above. Take the lower rad hose off and drain as much as you can that way.

Can you still flush the system out though without taking the thermostat out?

id take the bottom hose off and run clean water through the system with a hose pipe or such like till it runs clear then put the new coolant in once all the pipes are tightened back up

This ^^

Remove the bottom hose to drain the old coolant out then hose in the top

just make sure you set the heater control to hot, and take the expn bottle cap off..

refilling is the bit that needs doing right to prevent an airlock. fill it to the level mark & then start squeezing the larger pipes to get the air bubbles out
