Hi i am thinking a bout building a 1600 gte race engine i have carbs and h and h ingntion and was wondering what the best head work and bottom end would be? And were to buy parts also can you use 1600 16v parts on a 8v thanks dan

All depends on your budget and a good machine shop doesn't go a miss also how long you want it to last

Sent you pm matey, typically I'd go balnced bottom end, balance rods end to end, arp rod bolts, headwise, new guides, ported, 3angle valve seats, modified standard valves then could do a newman cam to suit around 310dur 12mm lift with a spring set to suit. Head would flow for around 150bhp dpending on compression, cam choice etc. Past that, rods + pistons but then become unreliable and anything over 12.5mm lift is a waste of time too cam wise.
