can anyone give me an idea how hard it will be to put a 1.2 in my 1.0. There are a few quiestions that i need answering before the work will commence.
1. will i need a 1.2 exhaust system coz ive heard the 1.0 is different
2.is the radiator the same
3.are the engine mounts the same
4.will i need to change the brakes

+ are there any other things i need to take into account before work commences

can anyone give me a power figure 4 the 1.2

right m8ty

all nova engine mounts are the same (i think)

i put a 1.6 in my 1.2 and the mounts were the same

zorst u might have 2 change

the rad should be the same and ok to use, im using my 1.2 rad in the 1.6 and it runs fine

as for brakes if you have standard wheels then get sum GTE/GSI brakes as they are ok, if you have 14's or 15's then sum Astra mk2 16v brakes will be the best bet

power for the 1.2 is bout 55 BHP (i think)

id suggest putting a 1.6 in m8ty or if u cant afford that then a 1.4SR or 1.3SR

i dont think going from 1.0-1.2 will give u massive gains m8ty

id go for a 1.4 :)

if ypou do it, it should be very straight forward, straight swap really

hope this helps :D

is the 1.0 over head cam or push rod engine?

if its a push rod engine, the radiator needs to be changed.

The mountings are the same for 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6

as far as i know the offside engine mounting bracket needs changed although the 1.0 one might well fit ok

the 1.0 rad is totally different

you'll need basically every cooling pipe off the 1.2 including heater matrix and resovoir ones

zorst is different - might wanna look at fitting a 1.4 exhuast system since its better flowing

1.2 brakes are the same so unless u wanna upgrade them - which is advisable in any case - then no u dont need to

if im not mistaken, power figures of a 1.0 is 45bhp, and 1.2 is 55bhp.
I would go for a 1.4 sr engine.. i think they are 82bhp.. and torquey engine too..

1.4 SR are 72bhp

I'd live with the 1.0, you'll save loads of money, which you can use to spend on far nicer things than a 1.2 - which will still be slow.
