I have just re-joined the club after several years out. I have recently purchased a nova sport, having owned one years ago however I am gonna take you back to around 1997.Well I started my nova fix when I was 17, sadly I wasn't the best driver and managed to total my first Nova which was a white A reg Nova SR. Within 2 weeks of this I sourced another white SR. Sadly this one want so mint and had been poorly repaired on a rear quarter... So the project began....

Being 17 at the time I did not have a pot full of money so I had to source parts from all over, the wide arch kit was second hand. Luckily those days there were plenty of parts available from the scrap yards.. I remember door were still demanding £50 tho!

We had a local firm who would manufacture moulds in fibreglass so I managed to persuade him to make a one off astra gte
Bumper with twin fog lamps. The boot well was chopped in half to allow for a centre exit exhaust ... The spare wheel now becoming a tin of tyre foam!

I managed to source a 90 spec interior so it was out with the brown check!

Those wide arches look great, they welded on? They don't look like fiber glass.

keep the updates coming, not often you get to see a 17 year old project unfolding :thumb: :)

They look like fibreglass Lewis you can see in one of the pics where their bonded on! It's the back bumper I was liking the look of! :) What's it off mate?

sean sport

Yes they were fibreglass.. Bonded on, it was the filler cap which created the problems being so much wider.. So I sourced a Kawasaki bike tank and cut the cap and filler neck out then managed to join it to the original filler neck. The bumper was a 1 off made by a company up north here.. It was the only way to get the bumper to meet the rear arches! Also needed fog lamps in the bumper cos I'd gone for twin rear reverse lights

You got any pics of the original Sport you had?

Believe it or not I didn't take any pics of it.. At the time I was young and didn't really appreciate just how special a car I had. Sadly let the car go and the chap sold it for parts.

Very nice mate, I was going to say I recognised this sr from the old Png mag, until I read further down the posts and you have showed it in the mag lol, still cool to see how the car progressed from std to the WIDE ARCHED beast . Keep the thread going mate and Iam looking forward to seeing others and the sport mate

Thanks. Are the PNG mags not produced now? Thankfully I've done this years ago so the sport is gonna get a restore back to original

The rear wheels had to be 7j , et35 then a 25mm hub centric spacer just to get them to nearly fill the arches, even then they prob could have gone wider.
