Well as most of you know the Corsa's been my daily workhourse for the past year, and decided i wanted another Nova and be back behidn that wonky wheel every day :p

Anyways i set about doing a swap for this little gem, a 1991 Nova 4dr saloon in gold, as it was with the previous owner off here

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/422315_10150997748455216_163581140_n.jpg

As i picked it up

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-10-21095826.jpg

Fitted my Sr steel wheels, gave it a valet, fitted red bumper tape to the front, and removed some of the stickers

The found my mint GTE wheeltrims, so put them on, makes it look factory fresh!

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-10-23081747.jpg

No plans exterior or interior wise now, want to make it look like its jsut rolled out the showroom, but slammed on its hoop, even contemplating putting a standard backbox back on lol

Fitting a new CV joint

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-10-23153952.jpg

then fitted my Calibra Turbo steering wheel and SR clocks as the originals speedo was tempramental

thats all for now, let me know what you all think :thumb:

Turbo steering wheels are the best wheel for a nova imho. Love it.

Dave.
25-10-12, 01:15 AM
Cheers John, absoloutley love it! Keeping it standardish, actually contemplating putting the original 13" wheels on, they'll be on when the snow sets in anyways" :thumb:

Not really much to update, had a very clean Cavalier in work the other day, looked like a scene from the 90's

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-10-25094710.jpg

Keeping with the standard theme, picked up the original radio that would of been fitted from the factory and fitted it once it was decoded

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-11-02175920.jpg

Then took it for a clean and some pictures, still needs bumpers gelling etc

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-11-03113109.jpg

Also fitted my GTE 3spoke wheel, keeps it more period/factory, would go standard but the plastic 2-spoke is horrible

Also cleaned the engine bay a fair bit, still need a pipe for the airbox though, wire brushed the rocker cover like hell! Nice bay ya?

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/2012-11-03113333.jpg

Then found a bollard missing in the local park, so snook through for some grass shots, last Nova on here that i remember was bonfire night 2006, you can guess the rest lol

Still love being back behind the wheel of one every day, gets alot of positive comments, next plans are fit a standard exhaust to her, sort the bodywork bits out like scuff to the n/s/f wing and dent in the roof, refit the boot badges and try and show her next year :thumb:

I would go for springs as coilovers are quite harsh if its your daily hack

Dave.
21-12-12, 01:15 PM
Its on coilovers all round mate, is quite stiff on the 16s but on the 14s it drive like normal, will be going lower once ive sorted the front arches :thumb:

edkillick
21-12-12, 01:19 PM
okay cheers guys, Still not sure how low I wanna go yet though, yours looks very tidy as it is, I've found some coilovers that apparantly fit but not too certain, which ones did you use?

Dave.
21-12-12, 01:25 PM
Mine came on the car mate, they're red spring ones though, when fitting coilovers it will throw your camber and toe out, so will need to get it 4 wheel alligned, plus watch the wheels dont scrub on the springs, if they do then need less camber and possibley spacers

Not updated this in a while so here goes...

She's been a very reliable daily hack, love being behind the wheel of a Nova again! After having a breif love affair with a B reg Ford Orion (Literally a week) This came back out and the Orion was sold

So heres the changes:

Mainly the big changes are inside and underneath, i picked up a very smart fully retrimmed grey leather interior on eBay for £70! Went and collected that and fitted it in once i'd got some subframes, the rears took abit of work to get in bit they went in on 3dr foam, poverty arch carpets were cut down and used to cover what you'd see of the wheel arches. Very smart and give a nice touch to the car i think.

Next was the Cherrybomb exhaust, picked up off here for £45 delivered, put on and my lord is it loud! Sounds perfect though nice and raspy, could probabley benefit from a centre box though lol

Then little things like debadging it again, fitting my euro light, installing some I.C.E i was given which is chavtastic! K&N fitted, CD playe refitted and raised a little on the rear

Heres some pictures for you all :thumb:

She has lost a lot of her goodies, such as the Calibra leather wheel, Radio and speakers, and most noticeable of all... the Speedlines. But fear not, these are all still in my posession, they were all removed whilst she was being sat to prevent them deteriorating or getting stolen whilst it was sat up. Hopefully be getting her back to her old self in the new year and spruced up for the show season... with the help of a new lady friend...

Your right Dave... I do t like what you have done. Lol. But I must agree, best thing to do while the car is laid up is to store the parts. Still a nice 4door in my opinion.

Good to see you've still got her dave.

Cheers Tommy and Simon, pulled my finger out the last week and braved the cold! After being sat neglected and deteriorating for around 9 months, i decided to try and get her back on the road

First up was a change of shoes, i fitted my SR steelies that i've got and wrapped them in some brand new low profile 185/55/R15 rubber, along with my Mk2 Belmont SRi/MK Cavalier SRi wheel trims which suit the car down to the ground i reckon, nice and stuble, and in time with the car (It does now have all 4 fitted as one had a leaky bead)

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0558_zps6d786f7f.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0558_zps6d786f7f.jpg.html)

Took her up the road and back to free her off, brakes were seized on solid, still started first time with full choke though, engine is one of the things making me keep hold of her, so reliable

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0552_zps05afea5e.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0552_zps05afea5e.jpg.html)

Next up was the steering wheel, old Mk Astra one that was shoved on as a tempt removed...

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0563_zpsd2d5e34f.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0563_zpsd2d5e34f.jpg.html)

And old style GTE one fitted, much better

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0564_zps6cb415f9.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0564_zps6cb415f9.jpg.html)

Genuine mats fitted and tidied up inside... vast improvement

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0565_zps0e3d8e89.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0565_zps0e3d8e89.jpg.html)

Also fitted some clear side indicators too as well as some L.E.D sidelight bulbs. Hopefully put her through a MOT in the new year and be back behind the wheel soon, tart the blemishes on the bodywork wings etc as i go on, hope you all approve :thumb:

Looks lovely Dave, but don't take this the wrong way, but from experience (as im old now) if i were you i would have a good re think on your collection of old vauxhalls, if you can keep them all then do so, but if i were you i would try sell a few and keep the ones you reall need/want, eg: keep white xe, red sr complete it and keep insted of loon, or sell cav and loon as a daily instead? Just i know now how much money ive wasted over the years, and other mates saved, they all have better cars and mortgages then i do now lol

I sold the red SR afew months back Scott as it needed more money putting into it than I'd ever get back, iI've never lostmoney on any cars I've bought owned and sold. The white XE will never leave my possession as I've had it since I was 12, the Cavalier is my daily hack and the saloon is my project/spare daily, the Cavalier needs alot of mechanical work next year to get it mint so I'll use this whilst it's off the road :thumb:

Afew updates...

SR Clocks that i fitted when i first got her because i had them lying about

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0787_zps892c8348.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0787_zps892c8348.jpg.html)

Never intended on keeping these originally... but they sort of stayed because i couldn't find a GSI set... untill last week when a set popped up on eBay. Sourced a 2-pin oil switch also so i could run the oil pressure gauge, made up a wiring loom to fit into the car for the second pin too.

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC_0789_zpsc751b94d.jpg (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/x_novadose_x/media/DSC_0789_zpsc751b94d.jpg.html)

Also when i bought the saloon it had a 1.4 engine fitted into it, but still ran the original carb. After looking around for a while for a rocker flat OHC type rocker cover i finally found one. Cleaned it up and had it painted in work.

Before:
