whats your views on buying and using gasket paper, for stuff such as the powercap?

Perfectly fine, so long as you use decent stuff and make a proper gasket up.

It also depends on how good your cutting out skills are too

in the old days, people used cornflakes boxes & red hylomar...... so any decent proper gasket paper will be an improvement..

cutting them to shape is the hard bit. some people use a ball bearing & a hammer

I got gasket paper for £1 a few weeks back of the bay. Seems good quality but has not been tested on the engine yet.

I just buy a selection and use what looks the best for the job. Normal size will be fine though!

sitting in a sand pit & soiling yourself is not much help...

when you are ready to cut some, make sure you have the air ambulance on speed dial.....

gasket paper is not as bendy as normal paper.. its more like use a craft knife to cut round it & use a large ball bearing and a hammer to cut the bolt holes out... plastic scissors will not be up to it

I'd just get the thickest and thinnest you can locate. USed thick stuff on chinese motorbike inlets when their cast 'ali' manifolds would warp at 60degC lol

We used a cereal box for gasket on landrover half shaft when we were off-roading, saved the day but didnt last long!
