I want to weld a strut brace into the back of my mova what's the best thing to use
I used scaffolding tube as it was nice and big. But any thick walled tubing well do.
stitch weld the seams around the turret while youre there
do not use ****ty scaffolding tube... CDS will do.

CDS = Cold Drawn Steel
I only ever use proper seamless roll cage tube. Its cheap enough & made exactly for its purpose. Scaff tube is ridicously thick (4 or 5mm wall!) galvanised & iron rich so weights an utter ton!
I'd have to agree with Mike, enough to make a strut brace won't cost loads in CDS tube.
If i had know how easy it was to buy CDS tubing back when i fitted my brace i'd have used it.
ive used scaf tube and mines fine lol and it was free lol
scaffold tube is not very strong either.. its made from cheap steel, hence the massive wall thickness & will bend really easily...
BUT unless a complete cage is being welded in, a rear brace is useless.
^ I found as soon as it was welded in, the car felt much more stiffer, even on straight roads driving in a S patten...

cheers guys i think im gonna try and get some cds tube from some where then start doing it. will a hatchback roll cage fit into a saloon or will it need to be extended to reach the rear wheel arch ??
^ Saloons only have a bit of extra boot welded on, arches and that are in the same place
