I'd make a build thread, so if your pc has a spaz attack ( like mine did last yr) you still have some evidence of build after loosing all your pics! ( like I did last yr)
Yes. I know back it up on memory stick.
You learn from mistakes! And I tell you, I've made some mistakes in my time! :)

Corsakid, pm me all the pictures... Nobody else seems bothered lol
should of put a yb in just to piss off edd!
Often thought this would be a good idea, just couldn't bring myself to rip my APY out the S3 lol
Keeping the Quattro system would be epic but an epic ballache to do.
Is it running?

no not running yet its only a day or 2 away from running its just getting the time to work on it, its going to run on dta
quattro system is in the pipeline :)

? hahahaha
Good luck with that lol,
Personally I wouldn't bother, it's mostly a FWD biased system and wayyyy to safe.
The control syestems are a nightmare too with longitudinal and latitudinal G sensors, steering sensors, its a over complicated system, you need the full abs system too not to mention the weight of it all,
corsakid
19-10-12, 10:20 PM
you can get round 99% of all the crap to make the haldex work you can get a new haldex control unit (aftermarket jobbie) im a audi/vw master tech getting the 4wd working wont be a problem itll be fitting it, its a very robust system aswell as long as the oils changed regular in the haldex unit they are bullet proof
Southie
19-10-12, 10:22 PM
The question is... Is this running then lol
corsakid
19-10-12, 10:24 PM
no but its literally a case on wiring the dta in and connecting a few coolant pipes and boost pipes and making a downpipe for the turbo
Come on, crack a thread up, we need some excitement on here

Could be worse Edd, FIAT could supply M20, M32 & a ZLET parts to GM.
Oh wait.....
Cool, youll know better than me then lol
Can you not just fit a mechanical diff rather than a haldex unit?
How does the transfer box deliver to the rear? My understanding was it transfers power to the rear all the time but drive is only engaged by the haldex on the rear axle,
Could be worse Edd, FIAT could supply M20, M32 & a ZLET parts to GM.
Oh wait.....
That doesn't surprise me, Z LET engines are utter crap lol
corsakid
19-10-12, 10:29 PM
yeah the drive is transmitted constantly via a mechanical bevel box ( transfer box) to the rear and your right the haldex unit then supplys the drive to the rear wheels
corsakid
19-10-12, 10:31 PM
you just get the haldex unit to engage drive all the time :)
I'd be sorley tempted to fit a mechanical full time diff on the rear with a LSD,
What's the sort of torque split on the front to rear from the transfer box,
My thought was simply to fit a old school BMW or cossy rear diff with the same ratio as the front diff I'd I done it,
Then gave up and just bought a working nova lol
corsakid
19-10-12, 10:37 PM
i believe its sumit like 60 front-40 rear or 70-30, yeah tha would be easier of fiiting a mechanical diff, the very first haldex systems are much much more simpler than the new generations of haldex systems but i was planning on fitting ans audi a3 or skoda octavia 4x4 floor pan so the haldex would already be fitted but thats a distant pipe dream at the minute ill get it running and drivng first etc
you just get the haldex unit to engage drive all the time :)
Or this lol
Oh and start a new thread mate :)
corsakid
19-10-12, 10:40 PM
will do
I have always wondered how my S3 would be if it were half the weight,
Kerb weight is 1460kg, 8L shape, the nova would be half that lol it'll be Fooookin rapid lol
corsakid
19-10-12, 10:46 PM
it have 350 ish bhp not massive figures but itll be enough and should go well
Sounds nice!!
I just left mine standard at 210, I was told 350 was the limit on standard internals due to the APY having better rods than the BAM, I think the 1.8T is a good engine, nice and small too once all the crap is stripped off it.
Hope to see your thread soon :)
Just get the pics up then you bell. LolSaw this in the flesh yesterday, and there isn't much left to do at all!

its taken a fair fair bit of work to get the engine in there but the light isat the end of the tunnel extensive modification and fabrication of engine, gearbox and inlet manifold
Glad to see you kept the car Kris..... When I saw you selling off the expensive xe parts I presumed the car had gone too. Looks like it will be another quality build from the Hurn brothers.... Looking forward to seeing it go.
Nick.

cheers nick, ill never sell it, though it did come close when i was selling all the xe parts, everything is really dirty will be a lot lot cleaner and neater when the final installation happens

good work. Should have been done years ago. I await the VR6T build
corsakid
21-10-12, 10:15 PM
its been pretty expensive so far as pretty much everything has to be modified, or made from scratch the bottom pulley i had made from a company in california and drive shafts are looking like theyll be 500 pound a shaft

dont matter which type of engine it is, the 1.8 20v T is still the best tuneable engine there is :)

whats the spec of your engine mate? very interested mines in short a big garret turbo 0.82 exhaust housing, external wastegate tubular manifold big injectors, new lightened g60 flywheel and carbon kevlar clutch, dta engine management bosch 044 fuel pump etc
General Baxter
21-10-12, 10:50 PM
i just made mine in theroy a 225TT, with a map lol the orginal fuel pump has more then enough pressure behind it,
T04 turbo,
225 tt injectors,
TMS decat,
4bar pressure reg
exhaust system, cant remember make,
remap,
and it runs that clean, it still passed a CAT MOT :)

awesome, they say 300-350 is the max without rods, i have aquired a few engines just in case and am planning on fitting rods getting an aeb head from old passat etc big power then

Lol @ Baxter using tms parts, thought they were only into ****ing up vauxhalls... Or have they moved into vag like lageR had to.
General Baxter
21-10-12, 11:01 PM
yep, tms do a bit for vag now,!
but its got 3 sensor holes, good for the wideband lol
That's just a production error lmao

thats nothing, its comes with a sticker, that says do not remove, after a small burn around the lanes, the sticker had set on fire lol

She's a turbo. So in terms of weight what's in it between this an a LET?
corsakid
24-10-12, 07:02 AM
No difference I don't think really
Has to be lighter, but the box is a bit of a beast, so that probably cancels out any engine weight differences...?
But then you can pound the living day lights out of the box compared to an f28 lol
What have you done turbo wise? k03? hybrid? Running aftermarket management?
dont matter which type of engine it is, the 1.8 20v T is still the best tuneable engine there is :)
Rotary engine you mean. Not as reliable mind but easy to get big BIG power out of them.

I'm using a garret t34 size turbo with a .82 exhaust housing with 'precision' external waste gate, dta management, I'm having the turbo above the gearbox as space is tight at the back, turbo jolt I just haven't had the time in the evenings to start a thread tbh Bosch 044 fuel pump swirl pot, Vxr injectors etc
Looks well in there. Should go even better.
These engines are sweet even in a passat barge! :d
Hi mate, have been on an Audi course with one of your work mates "wiggy" he showed me the pic of you with 9"disc in 6" grinder hacking your inlet manifold up lol
corsakid
07-12-12, 08:00 AM
Yeah will was telling me you were on a coarse with wiggy! As you can imagine that grinder idea was just for a funny pic, and as you saw from the video didn't last very long!
