On my E16Se engine have the big gold throttle body unit sitting on the back. How vital is it to renew the gaskets in the end nearest the air intake if I am cleaning it all out? Don't really want to have to go to main dealer to get the gaskets?!

Problem is I seem to be getting oil blowing back into here from the breather hose. Any suggestions on how to stop this??

gaskets? wtf?

only way to stop the oil is to block off the hole to the inlet and fit a breather filter to the pipe. however u might get occasional pufs of smoke coming from your bonnet and a weird smell.

any puff the magic dragon gen... :P

Is this the breather to the manifold from the head? With TBs there isn't any where to fit the hose, buy a catchtank (Bailey do a stunner) and fit that in stead.

nope this is on an 8v. it goes from the rocker box cover to the throtlebody/inlet. just sends oil/vapour to get burnt :)

The gaskets are on the metal part of the throttle body, jst past were the air inlet feeds into. According to Haynes, they should be renewed, but I got away with it on thr EGR valve. Just don't want the hassle of waiting for the main dealer to send me the wrong one. Don't really know if I can be bothered taking it apart to clean it all, it was just that it got full up with muck from the oil blowing in.

Doesn't seem as if there is any way to stop it, so I'll just have to keep cleaning the idle screw every few weeks. This ave me loads of problems a few months back, when the engine ran like a bitch!

Y did they do it like that? surely youd be better off with a catch tank! it gets dirty, and then it burns all the crap!

iv'e stripped mine a few time there is a thin paper gasket that goes between the TB and the manifold as for the oil there is no way of stoping it
unless you put a breather filter on

mine does not get that bad i have to clean the idle screw just a very little puddle i wipe out with a cloth
