ive been learning how to write write webpages on asp. when i goto load these web pages in my browser (ie6) its doestn load.. it comes up as a download and loads up in visual interdev 6.. how do i get it to load in the browser??
adam
when u look at the webpage on ie6 are u looking at a HTML page, u might be looking at a '.asp' file instead of the '.html or .htm' files, just a thought.
i would pass this onto 1 of my developers but iv just given them all loads of work
think iv already herd 'fckin asp shite' being said twice this morning

its because your asp files are set as default to be read by interdev on your machine...
Best thing to do is forget all you ever heard about asp and learn php instead... novaload used to run on asp and it was rubbish - php is much better !!!
yup. php with appache. maybe some extra learning but far better :)

i'm glad i stopped webdesigning at the frontpage/html stage
php is far more powerful than asp. the ONLY reason why a lot of businesses use asp is becasue it is a Microsoft product and you can get official technical support for it, wheras php is freeware so you have to visit forums, or read the manual (heaven forbid).

www.phpfreaks.com/forums
best and most helpful site i have found.
the resident php obsessed really do know their stuff.
for sheer simplicity and power try ColdFusion ;) granted the servers cost a fortune, but you can do some kick ass database stuff with it
im sure if i really really wanted to i could pick up PHP (as its butcherd C), but i think ill leave webdesign to my "step bro" and the rest of the peeps lol

php is pi$$ easyier than messing around with asp. php is sooo more powerful.
for php to work you need to download a free php decompiler.
similer if you want to run cgi pages - u need a perl decompiler.
search for perl / php on google. ull find loads
id love to say i know what you guys are on about but i haven't the foggiest!!!

The best format for web-DESIGN in my opinion is Flash. Can't beat if for the artistic freedom it gives to the actual design itself.
yes but people go overboard and have flashy images everywhere which just piss me off when i am trying to look for something. Flash intros piss me off a lot

asp, cgi, perl, all stuff like that are programming languages that give internet explorer browsers instructions on what to put in front of your eyes.
look at your adress bar now
the file extension of novaload is PHP
infront of you is a PHP script driven page
ok i took that much in anyway!
to be honest i dont think people that dont know, dont acctually want to know lol
and infact I'd be happier not knowing how to program in atleast half of the languages i know lol
as they say iggnorance is bliss (or would be)
