Hello, I'm new to this site.
I have recently brought a nova to do up, this is my 7th nova wrote 4 of them off and sold the other 2. I haven't had one for about 10 years and wanted an SR.
I found one for sale up in Edinburgh bought it without looking at it as I am in Buxton Derbyshire I paid for a courier to pick it up
Got it back was roughly as described Just been sourcing bits ready to do it up I am hoping to keep it factory standard.
Anyone know how I can upload pics without using a URL?
Thanks

I think you need a photobucket account to post pics. Thats how I have done it but there might be other ways. Well done on your purchase. What colour is it and whats it needing? :)

Above are the pictures the man sent me and are how it arrived.
Ive had a poke around it and it needs: Drivers Door
Rear Drivers Side Arch
Drivers Side front wing
Car has had paint in the past but has been done well, the plan is to put on the new panels, couple of small bits of welding, one of the strut tops and inner wing,
Few car park dents in places so bit of filler
Give it a full spray
Sure I'll come across alot more issues though!!
New Grey Vinyls on the lower half and door pillars

Ive merged your pictures into one reply as it tidies them up a bit, you can add fifteen pictures into each reply (less if you add smileys as they count as an image) just so you know for future reference :thumb:

Re the door, yes you can swap everything over, you may need to swap the check strap over as that looks like a mk1 coloured door so it may be different if it is, the strap is easy enough to do as you will see when you examine it.

The window reg will also swap over, you will need to drill out the rivets to remove the mechs from each door, there are two sets of holes for both kinds, manual and electric, manual uses the same top two holes, and on different bottom one, if you look before you remove the manual reg you will see all four holes that the elec reg will need, just re rivet or nut and bolt the elec reg into those holes and youre away, i think the central locking motor/module is riveted too but thats a straight swap, and dont forget to measure up the old doors hole for the wiring loom, and drill the new door BEFORE you fit it otherwise you will have nowhere for your wiring loom to run through!

I gave £750 for the car and it cost me £200 to get home.
Thanks

Just an update, got the correct wing the other day, not fitted yet, found a bit of rot on the inner wing that I've been sorting, got the drivers door off got to swap everything off that onto the donor door. Also started to strip the bottom vinyl off on the passenger side!

Very nice mate, love a Mk2 Sr :) and I would say they are the rarest Sr's on the road now :)

guptatronic
22-10-12, 07:59 PM
Yea i've not seen one on the road for a good while, I like some of the modified nova's but personally when their a true classic I think the factory standard ones are going to be desirable?

This is a picture of the rust at the bottom of the inner wing/sill drivers side. This is to be cut out and fresh steel put in.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u608/guptatronic/StaffordshireMoorlands-20121108-00484.jpg

Found some more rust in the rear light on the inner arch this is also to be cut out and fresh steel put in.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u608/guptatronic/StaffordshireMoorlands-20121108-00485.jpg

Started rubbing down in areas, on the whole the car is very straight, some little car park dents I'm going to fill at first I was just going to give it a quick blow over. Its turning into a bigger project now as I might as-well do it properly.

http://i1324.photobucket.com/albums/u608/guptatronic/StaffordshireMoorlands-20121108-00482.jpg

Going to cut out as much rust as possible and replace it with new steel, Even using Krust and other remedies Its ok to slow the process down but its better to rid the problem I think. I don't want to do all this work and then have the new paint job blistering with rust underneath a few months down the line.

Just another update, we have been doing bits and bobs at her over the last couple of weeks.
Stripped the donor door and swapped all the internals over.
Cut the rust out of the sill and plated it up
Found a hole behind the passenger side head light so gut that out and plated it up
Cut the rust out of the rear arch and put the repair panel in
Done a bit more rubbing down found a few little dents to fill
All in all she's coming on.
A bit more rubbing down and the hole to repair behind the back light and she'll be ready for some primer!!

18 months forgot about in the corner of the shed, I nearly put the pallet forks through it and scrapped it but at only £80 a ton and the enthusiasm some people have on this website I have found second wind to have another blast!!!

Few bits and bobs on the bodywork to sort out ie getting correct badges, but mainly the mechanicals to sort out. Water doesn't seem to be circulating, brakes to strip and replace a cv boot to change, central locking to sort out timing belt change and a thorough service. Nearly done. Then do I might sell it.
