solenoid to pull the release catch, wire to run from the solenoid to the switch, a push switch (push on, release off) and some wire to go to the positive and negative feed from the battery.

not very hard if you have done any wiring before at all.

Find a Fiesta/Escort in a scrap yard and remove the whole thing out of that, switch, solenoid, wiring etc etc...

Go to Maplins, buy...
2 wired solenoid = ?8
Push button = ?0.50p
Some wire length of your car ?1

thats it.

this is wat i did,

Put switch inside bin in center console, so id have to open bin to press button(so i didnt catch it by mistake) put wire going from possitive for light in bin(so i had to put sidelights on for a split second to get power going to switch, again a safty feture), that wire went to one connector on switch and then put wire going from other conectoer all way along car to possitive on solenoid, then just earth the negantive to ya tailgate, very simple and easy. plus it cost u under a tenner!

Yea, one of the boots I have has a single central locking motor wired to the rear wiper(removed).

not a good idea. did that on one Nova and i hit it many times. having your boot open in the middle of traffic or as you drive away from a junction is not nice

if you are worried about having the boot open when you are drivingjust make sure that theres an electro magnet holding it shut when the ignition is on... dunno how heavy it would be having one strong enough for that but hey - its one solution.
