even tho im the 3rd owner and the previous owner got it from his dad there is no paperwork and it was the 1st time it had been out the village and done more than 40mph since new it had always been garaged and he even polished it for me. appart from the usual rust on the exterior the paint is spot on with minimal swirls in it and yes it was a quiet drive home as it only has the original sharp tape player in it aswell as having the original dealer plates and rear window sticker. i dont know what my plans are for it but my 1st mission is to sort out the exterior rust and give it a full service with a cambelt and shampoo the interior even tho it might be getting changed and looking at the breaks as the pedal is rock hard and getting a lockset as it has 5 different keys for it but for now im going to use it for work for a few weeks 1st as i cant complain at my insurance being £160 for 12 months after the last nova i insured cost me £1300

I plan on restoring instead of modifying, its a shame about the drivers bolster wear tho as it will be hard to find a early interior and im after bumpers and grill but i want the earlyer grill for it
similar sort of state as mine neds a bit of tlc, with no history lol, but totalt original and unmolesterd :)

Looks good. Don't know if it's just the photo but it looks like the drain hole for the battery tray in the inner wing looks to be blocked

Its just my crap photography ive been keeping an eye on it, it was garaged all its life and has done 70k it runds spot on but im going to vet a cambelt kit and service parts from autovaux and get a timing light on it to keep it running sweet. The only thing i cant do is body work which is a ballache as it is expensive

Looks lovely mate, black novas just look the best imo, plans sound good for it, you going for a nova gte engine?
chrisd1986
14-11-12, 11:42 PM
Ive got a 1.4 sri engine lined up for it with the full sri loom so i can have leccy windows and c/l and im fitting a digi dash aswell as 2L brakes and 14" sr steels which will be banded to 7j oh not to mention the beige burberry sr seats to go with it

right so yesterday i started to refurb my £50 sr steels after getting some near new tyres on fleabay i got impatient and just did it. the centre caps are brand new genuine ones that were still in the packet and i couldnt find the right colour till today so i got the paint shop to make me a rattle can up and its a perfect match so i dont have to spray my new caps aswell. here are the wheels just after removing the old and perished tyres off after they had been sat outside for 7 years

Picked up these seats kn wednesday and it turns out they are 60/40 split rear bench so i might cheat with a seat cover in the back and never remove the baby seats. They didnt come with the runners either so i will have to swap them aswell, should get them in if it stops snowing, raining or stayig temp staying below 0c all day. They also turned out to be grey so ive now got to change the whole interior
Loving it mate! Looks good as it is but i reckon if you had the steels banded and it was a tad lower i'd say job done!
I'd like some banded sr steels for mine but they're a bit pricey.
You could recover your rear bench with those if your handy at sewing, and the fronts you can take the seat apart and put the sr cushions etc on your old frames.

Thanks mate, im going to be getting some alloys for the summer and keep the sr steels for the winter only need 14's for the bigblock brakes. Would it not be easyer to sorce some runners and fit them, im scared of ripping the vinal on the back
Yeah that would be easier, trouble is trying to find someone that has just the runners for sale.

Al buy seats with fcuked bolsters on the cheep, im hoping to get a gte motor in jan after my so called mate sold the sri motor on me. The plan is to rebuild it with p&p head and cam it with 4-2-1 manifold (which is in the post) and a red nova sport ashley backbox ready for a roling road day im going on in april
Like the sound of the red sport exhaust , needs the red tape on the front bumper, looks spot on with the drop and Sr wheels :) nice Job

Tbh with having new mk2 wings in the garage its looking tempting but with 15" compomotive mo's, wind deflecters and tinted windows
chrisd1986
18-12-12, 04:00 PM
Im torn, i cant sell the mk2 wings so it dosnt make sense to buy mk1 wings and have the mk2 wings just sitting there

These turned up today

http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb368/chris_d_1986/20121221_145534.jpg
Bit later than i would of liked so i will have to fit them tomorrow now :-(
chrisd1986
22-12-12, 02:38 PM
So today i set about fitting my 256mm brakes to my nova in the pissing down rain (so i didnt have to go shopping) but ive got a lockup so wasnt too bad. Altho when i got there the pull start on my generator fell to bits so i had no light or heat but it was still better than shopping lol so i removed the shonkey old brakes with crumbling pads
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb368/chris_d_1986/20121222_121329.jpg
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb368/chris_d_1986/20121222_121349.jpg
New ones fitted, could of done with painting and i wanted to paint the vents on the disks but i had no access to caliper paint but i will probably do it in a week or so
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb368/chris_d_1986/20121222_121358.jpg
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb368/chris_d_1986/20121222_121408.jpg
All fitted and bled up with no leaks and a good stiff pedal so was made up so i went to put the wheels on and the offside fouled the caliper but the nearside didnt which i thought was odd. I did put a thread up a while ago about them fitting and everyone said they should
http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/bb368/chris_d_1986/20121222_124701.jpg
So after some digging through some boxes of bits ive hoarded over the years i found 2 Universal 5mm spacers and problem solved but ive now got a excuse to need new wheels lol. Next mission is to do the ball joints and buy a engine till next time merry christmas and happy newyear
chrisd1986
