my nova when hot and been running for a while starts holding its revs up and when you driving along you put the clutch down and it revs up to 3500-4000 rpm by its self does any one know what mite be causing this.

Auto choke playing up(If fitted)?

Are the butterflies in the carb returning OK?

dont have a auto choke (weber fitted)

is there anyway of testing it and where do i do about getting a new one (if there not that expensive) or is it on vauxhall's disconted list like every thing else

the vacuum test is dead simple.. get it ticking over, & yank the vacuum hose off at the carb, then suck like hell on it, if the engine note changes, the vacuum is fine..

the 1200/1300 dizzy vacuum unit is also fitted to hummers... seriously... they cost, but are available


look at if your choke cable has slipped too

look at if your choke cable has slipped too

just tested it and the vacum unit seems all good and my choke cables all good but its werid that it only does it when its been up to running temperature for a while

it might just be set wrong, or have a small bit of dirt in it

is there any way of checking for this with out takeing the carb off and striping it down + i dont know why there would be **** in there as i have always run a in line fuel filter with the weber fitted

i haven't had a carb apart in 20 years....usually you need to strip them for pretty much everything

ok thank you for your help ive just redone my ignition timing as it was out slightly i dont know if that would have any effect on it. i cant go out and road test as its miserable out there.

Tried checking for air leaks? Might be opening up a little when it's hot.

now as well when i switch it off it has a little rev aswell after the key is out of the ignition
